This new version is a fucking pain in the ass, there are permissions on top of permissions, on top of more fucking permissions!
We had an issue with Robert13212's pictures not being visible in posts. First I will go over how things are set and then what not to do.
There are two types of Albums: Public & Private. Self explanatory I would say.
All Registered users can see any PUBLIC Albums. Guests (not logged in), Waiting to be Approved Users, & Banned Users cannot see them.
As for PRIVATE Albums only Admins, Super Mods, and Your Friends can see the pictures in those Albums.
Now those settings make perfect sense. If you don't want your pics viewable by all make the album Private!
With our board when the Album feature was released I made a Plug-In so users could post a picture(s) stored in a PRIVATE Album in a thread and that picture(s) would be visible even if the user reading the thread couldn't see that person's whole Private Album. The permission is based on if the user can read the thread, if so then they can see the picture, makes sense right.
With this Plug-In I could have a Private Album with many pictures in it but share them in different spots, BOD vs Friend's & Family.
Well vBulletin 4 broke that shit too with a little know Privacy policy Robert had setup.
In Profile Privacy: http://news.insearchofchicas.org/forum/profile.php?do=privacy You can limit ALL of your albums to just Registered Users, just Friends, or just Contacts, or to Everyone. Now first of all it's stupid since Friends & Contacts are one in the same but I didn't write this software. But when you set it different from Everyone you break my Plug-In!
So to make a long story short, don't fuck with the Privacy Settings! Basically all Logged-In Registered Users can see your Profile page, and that's not a big deal. Sure they can see your Friends, Public Albums, etc but again no big deal. If you want to keep your Pics private just make the album PRIVATE! Then only the pictures you chose to share by posting in threads will be seen, unless of course you invite someone to be your friend.
PS. If you want to restrict any other part of your Profile from Everyone, go ahead. Just leave the Album permission as "Everyone" and if you want to hide an Album make it Private.

I thougt that is what my settings were. Only friends could go in and see the whole album but everyone could see a photo if I put it in a thread. I must have changed something I guess.

Thanks for taking the time.....sorry I fucked up. You are just one more in a long line of people I have disappointed in my life....Right Pops?
Thanks DT for the work on this. Appartently me settings are correct as I always set them private, but when I post a pic out of them into a thread, they can be seen by all. This is evidenced by some responses I've gotten from non-friends that seemed to see them.
One question to throw out there though, do you have any ideas why I may be able to see a non-friends pics in a thread from one computer, but not another. It happens to me all the time. OMGR is a great example for me where this happens.
Maybe this is too much to ask because I'm sure it is due to a local setting or something, but my computer knowledge stops there. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

this is an info thread. so jack away.
I am not sure what your settings are on other vomputers but that could be part of the problem.

Your post is right on. I agree album settings may be a problem, but the problem definitley goes another level. I'm just not sure where to go with it from there.
i'm no computer guru, so any help on what might be next could help me and others (if anyone has suggestions)

All my albums are set to private but I have stopped using them because I don't know who can see them. Maybe after the problems have been cleared up I'll start adding again
