Re: Trying to plan a budget for first trip to Sosua plz help
ArmyBen, first of all, as a former Army dog myself (M-1 Tank crewman) I wholeheartedly thank you for your service and wish you nothing but a great time on leave from the sandbox. Hope you and all your buddies eventually make it home safe.
You will love Sosua. As has been posted, chances are you will run into some good dudes who will help to steer you in the right direction. Never stayed at the NG but have stayed at the SeaBreeze just around the corner. Plenty of ISOC guys in that neighborhood.
I have no idea what salaries are for military people nowadays. It has been mentioned that $200 - $250 a day would be a good amount to spend for each day. If you have been able to save up a lot for this trip then that shouldn't be a problem. But I have to say, I have managed quite well on $150 a day, including the hotel.
Most places a beer will run around 60-80 pesos a piece whether at a beach bar or in town. Tasty food can be had for less than 7-8 dollars for a lunch or dinner. An all nighter with a chica can be had easily for $60. You of course can spend as much as you want. But I don't want you throwing your hard earned cash away if you don't need to.
After your first trip, you will be hungry for more. I guarantee it. Most all of us won't be leaving the dinner table anytime soon!:D
Too bad you won't be there in early March. Would love to buy you a beer. Thanks again and have a great trip.

I try to not go over $100 a day - not including lodging. So that's about the same as Mr Smooth. Not always possible, but I usually stay pretty close to that.
I stay in a condo, so am able to do a few meals at home. And not a heavy drinker unless I am influenced by my peers . ONe chica per day Max. It's all how much of a spender you are.
Re: Trying to plan a budget for first trip to Sosua plz help
Did Sosua alone just a couple of weeks ago.I averaged about $100 a day. That included a full time chica,($6000 pesos for four days) a couple of $9 dollar bjs, a st or 2, one for $600 pesos and One for $750 pesos and food and drink. I don't count the hotel cause I gotta pay for that anyway wether I spend anymore money or not. Also I don't drink alcohol so water and soda keeps my bill down.
Re: Trying to plan a budget for first trip to Sosua plz help
Ben,
I'm glad to see you are taking the plunge and you are in my humble opinion doing the right thing regarding BB and NG. The best advice I have seen so far, is to use your bank card for cash advances. You will get the best exchange rate that way, and never have too much cash floating around.
Make sure to never leave your pants, valuables unattended with a chica in your room. They are really fast at checking out what's in those pants when you ain't in them.
I'm in Santo Domingo for the next couple of days, but it would be my pleasure to buy you a couple of Presidentes when I get up to Sosua on Friday. Send me a PM, and we can arrange something.
Re: Trying to plan a budget for first trip to Sosua plz help
I should probably warn you that you can get to $400 per day, if you have expensive taste. Having said that, at $400 per day it is still a steal for the amount and quality of entertainment you can get :)
Your budget will depend on whether you will be picking up girls cheap from classicos, or splurge at La Passion. I personally like to splurge at LP and a couple of happy hours there an a take out for the night add up. Perfect cure for 6 months in the desert though , I would not advise you any other way!
I agree with your schedule of BB and Sosua, make sure to stop for an afternoon at Field of Dreams and see India, Cafe, and Jacqui (it is on the way from BB to Sosua and definitely worth a few hours stay! - you can get a room for 4 hours there)
Enjoy and PM if you want more details

All you really need is chicas?
Re: Trying to plan a budget for first trip to Sosua plz help
Ben, by this time it should be point and click! In terms of drinking buddies/wingmen, that will not be a problem as the people are really cool there!

well we agree that at two to two and a half you should have no problem and most nights have a nice chunck left if you are a bit conservative.
