Ocean Dream condos Dec 2011
In the spirit of information sharing that this board is the best for, here is an update of sorts on places available in Cabarete from last month.
Ocean Dream is a condominium complex located on the west side of Cabarete. It has direct beach access and is less than a 10 minute walk via beach or the main road to the "center" of downtown (not far at all) and all the main bars, restaurants, etc. By moto it is obviously just minute or so.
There are a few restaurants just outside the main entrance (one minute walk tops) if you're feeling lazy and want a quick meal, beer, etc. The nightclub (as of the time of this posting) Exotica is within a minutes walk from the entrance as well. There was a mercado within a two minute walk if you needed to stock up with your personal supplies.
The condos seemed to be arranged in groups of units with each having it's own pool. This added somewhat to being able to be a little more private and not at "the main pool" like some hotels in the area.
Security seemed to be very tight and each guest is provided a card to allow entry or departure from the premises. I never once questioned security and locking my valuables up when in the unit. I don't think anyone of mal intent was even going to gain access to the property. This may have been bad thinking on my part, but I felt extremely secure.
The condo I stayed in was a two bedroom, each with it's own private bath and walk in shower. There was a full kitchen with island in the middle connected to a rather spacious living room. This opened to a balcony viewing the pool and the ocean not too far off between a few other buildings. Again, the beach was a mere 30 seconds outside the front door.
As far as price, there is a wide range as can be found with some simple Google searches. This can be extremely variable depending on the season from what I've seen, so I won't quote one now.
Wicked Willie was invaluable in helping secure this particular unit when I requested his opinion on other venues to stay in Cabarete. There seem to be many units available for rental when looking around on the internet, but a simple PM to him may be advantagous if this place might be for you.
Overall, if I were to stay in Cabarete again, this would remain at the top of the list. To me, it was an awesome place to hang one's hat for a while.

Ocean dream is on point. We stayed in their 3bedroom condo a year ago. Only problem is the wanted $500 for the deposit. Other than that, great place to stay. The commute to Sosua is not too bad about 7-10 min drive at the most.
