Youre never too old to learn Spanish.. It's never too late.. Google the top 100 Spanish verbs and learn those first.. It's a big help... On my first trip to DR my Spanish was basically garbage, I tried and learned alot, and being around them helps when you really want to communicate. It makes your time served a lot more fun lol

I'm happy to say that by day 2 or 3 of my trip I am now usually the translator for guys like you.. I get better as times goes by in the environment. I just downloaded itranslator app for my blackberry and you can type a sentence in English and it will convert to Spanish.. This is also a lot of fun if you do this around a Chica.... Thanks for the trip report! I stayed there once or twice on my excursions and had a great time...
