Re: Has anyone heard......
I just booked two trips on CO. EWR nonstop to POP.
Departing Jan 6th (Sat) - Returning Feb 1st (Thurs)
Departing March 3rd (Sat) - Returning March 26 (Mon)
Maybe I was just lucky with my dates?
Re: Has anyone heard......
I have talked to Continental about this several times, they sometimes reduce the amount of flights to POP but it never lasts.

I wasn't aware of the change as I had not received an e-mail notice.
When I contacted them to find out what was going on I was told that the change was due to the fact that they no longer fly daily from Newark to POP. Anybody else aware of this?
Yeah, they did the same thing to me, but on my return flight - moved it from Wednesday, 11/29 to Friday, 12/1. Problem was, they only moved one leg, so I wound up having reservations from San Juan to Seattle two days before I went from Puerto Plata to San Juan!!! I wound up cancelling the whole flight with them, and found an American fare for $30 cheaper.

I have another flight scheduled from Dec 28th until Jan 7th, so I guess I'll have to check on that one as well.

I know that sometimes they'll cancel a flight and re-schedule, but my assumption has been because there wasn't enough people flying that particular flight. However, this is the first time I've heard that they simply won't be running daily routes, especially considering that it is the holiday season.

I had the same issue. When I checked my flight I found that I was going from Providence to Newark on Nov 14th, and then from Newark to POP on Nov 12th. Didn't make sense, of course. I hope this holiday season travel doesn't turn out to be a mess!
Re: Has anyone heard......
it seems they did cut out some flight days.
what airlines are we using the most?
i'm curious about a few things:
1) what airline do you prefer and why
2) what airport do you use most in the DR
3) what major hub in the US, or Canada, do you fly from/thru? jfk, yyz, ewr, atl, miami...whatever
4) do you usually get a direct flight?
and any other tidbits you care to share.
Re: what airlines are we using the most?
Santiago airport because they have direct flights from NY.

It terms of time it works out to be the same if you drive to STI or use POP for a connection Miami.
Re: what airlines are we using the most?
toronto direct to puerto plata no stops.
once on board you just have time;
for a drink
for breakfast
for a drink
watch the movie
have a drink
fill out the cutom forms
have a drink
land and clear customs
and buy a presidente outside
  :corky: :D

I am sure a BBBJ will make the time pass quickly...
Re: what airlines are we using the most?
i live in canada but mostly fly from the US, atleast in the past for the savings. i usually fly thru ewr or jfk but cannot usually get a direct flight unless i fly from toronto.
Re: what airlines are we using the most?
THE CHEAPEST AND SHORTEST TIME :-}~
Re: what airlines are we using the most?
My top choice is definitely EWR to POP because its non stop. I have done EWR ro STI (nonstop) also which actually isnt that bad on the way in. The departure from STI is kinda early in the daytime so you either have to head to STI for the last night or rush off at like 9am to the airport from Sosua. If I fly out from POP I dont have to rush to the airport. I can relax until about noontime.
Re: what airlines are we using the most?
delta is working for me so far pretty good...wish jet blue would get its act together though!!!
Re: what airlines are we using the most?
recently i've flown delta, continental and jet blue but mostly continental.
conntinental and delta both fly from my home so all costs in it's only about $100-150 more and it saves me a lot of travel time and hassle.
sometimes i have to fly from the US to get the best connections or if the price is too much better but i'm now trying to fly from home. even driving to toronto is 4 hours each way with fuel costs and parking too.
Re: what airlines are we using the most?
we are definitely spoiled in the NY/NJ area. Prices seem to be going up but you can still find some $300-$350 round trip tickets(including taxes) if you plan ahead.
