01/2014 - EastCoast's Review of Kite Beach Inn
Re: EastCoast's Review of Kite Beach Inn
I passed through there. I'm interested to hear what you have to say about it.
Re: EastCoast's Review of Kite Beach Inn
Kite Beach Inn is owned and operated by isoc member Ohmm and his wife Lucy, Lucy is such a nice woman, there was not one time that I saw her that she didn't have a genuine smile on her face. There are two other employees that work in the office and they too always had smiles on their faces. The guest service provided by the entire staff is very welcoming.
On this particular vacation, I wanted a change of pace, and it I was also supposed to wife up with a non-pro chica, I'd been talking with. This place was perfect for that. Although the man-whore in me didn't make wifing up possible, if I wanted too, I would do it here.
Firstly, I was the only monger staying at the hotel that I could tell, the rest of the residents were on the younger side, I would say mid twenties to mid thirties, some American, some European. It seemed like a lot of them actually lived there, which was cool and weird at the same time.
Re: EastCoast's Review of Kite Beach Inn
The thing that struck me, and made me feel so comfortable there, was there were never any judging eyes, even when my bitches came to visit, I never saw one person looking down there noses at me, it was cool. Everybody there was just on some cool out vibe.

Re: EastCoast's Review of Kite Beach Inn
There is a Restaurant and Bar at the back of the Hotel, it's not the best, not going to lie about that, it's a little better than decent, but once again it's the staff that makes the place. The waitresses are Dominican and speak English. The owner of the Restaurant is a cool Italian guy, seemed young, I couldn't tell how old he was could have been 40's but the beach life keeps you young. But the Presi's were cold and Pina Coladas were Strong, I couldn't ask for more than that! It was reasonably priced.
Re: EastCoast's Review of Kite Beach Inn
I really loved this place, aside from the hoeing that I was doing, I was there to make a very important decision, so every morning I would walk on the beach and think and this place was perfect for it, miles and miles of beach.

Wow! So this is the place that Ohmmmmm ownnnnnnns! Your review is a stark contrast of what I experienced. I was basically shooed away when I stopped by many years ago. I am SO happy that the place is different now! The location is so perfect, right between Sosua and Cabarete. If you have a vehicle, this is the place to stay...especially since they have quality ownership!
I'm freaking out because I wished death upon the previous owners, now I'm doing a COMMERCIAL!!!!

My Apartment
When I booked, I was given the option of paying in full via paypal or onsite. I chose the paypal option.
I got the ocean view apartment, it came with a small kitchen no stove or burner (it was a hot plate set up) I wasn't going to cook so it didn't bother me, it had plates and glasses and utensils. There was a microwave and a refrigerator.
Here is the view from the balcony

It was nice sized, had a big bathroom and shower and there was never a problem with pressure or hot water, everything worked great.
The room has two beds, on single and one double, and a balcony so I can chill with my chicas.

Re: EastCoast's Review of Kite Beach Inn
In closing, I loved The Kite Beach Inn, Ohmm, his wife and their staff were EXCELLENT ! ! !
There was a huge snow storm in NYC the night before I was scheduled to leave, Airport was closed and people were stranded in both NYC and DR. I explained to Ohmm that I might have to stay a while longer and asked if I could have the same room.
He gave me a phone if I needed to make long distance calls and even lowered the room rate for me, if I needed it.
That my friends in Customer Service, I have over 10 years experience in the hospitality industry, I have an eye for service and this place wins on all counts.
Now the only downside if you want to look at that way.
It's a 500 peso ride to Sosua each way, if you are not driving, if you are driving you are golden.
Right down the way you have
Gordito's

http://news.insearchofchicas.org/for...1&d=1390773267

With their AMAZING fish tacos
You also have
LAX

A great place to chill day or night!
There are three poppin night clubs Ojo, Kahunas, and Bambu's
So many restaurants, shops and a huge supermarket less than 10 minutes from you. Mottos can take you anywhere you want for 50 pesos.
Cabarette is a pretty dope change from Sosua, and if you are wifing up, it's PERFECT!
I would recommend Kite Beach Inn to ANYONE for a relaxing vacation spot.
Thank you Ohmm.

Re: EastCoast's Review of Kite Beach Inn
Nice review EC.
I have stayed here once before.
I was dealing with some non-pros, and wanted to be away from Sosua.
I agree with everything you've writtten. Ohmmmmm and his wife are great hosts, and the place has great ambiance and charm.
Cannot beat the beachfront location.
Glad you found Gordito's. The fish Tacos are a MUST stop for me every single trip to the North Coast.

Or 35 pesos for normal people.
Funny, because you are apparently happy to ride a moto despite being a superstar, so why would you not want to ride in a publico?
Otherwise a great review and pics. Well-deserved compliments for ohmmmm, I am sure.

Gdogg, That is not my hotel. The one you went to may be a different one with a similar name. My place is called Kite Beach Inn. www.kitebeachinn.com
Thank you for the kind review eastcoastallstar. I don't have a "monger" hotel, but we are chica friendly and everyone here is pretty cool. Our goal is "happy guests" It is not luxury and the restaurant is not up to par at the present moment...its just ok at the present moment with a few misses... and I am not happy about it. We are working to get it better. Drinks are typically made strong and beer is on the menu. You can sit on the deck and watch the ocean or kiteboarders in the afternoon.
Re: EastCoast's Review of Kite Beach Inn
Great review EC. I've only visited the Kite Beach Inn once and agree with you on the customer service and environment aspects. It does seem like a great place for a change of pace and it's also good to hear that on the mongering tip you can feel comfortable as well--of course most of us that keep it respectable with our company. I've been saying that I'm gonna start my next trip off there and just may do so next time.
Many DR hotels don't look in person like they do on their website or in pics, but I can say that the Kite Beach Inn looks as nice or better live and in person as it does in any pics.

First, thank you for acknowledging my superstar status.
Publicos suck for transportation, where the hotel is located, by the time it reaches you, is jam packed with people, sweaty, hot people.
From Sosua, I'd rather just take a cab instead of being drunk and walking up to the publico, which I would probably rent out a few seats anyway.
I like comfort.

My only experience taking the publico was from Sosua to Kite Beach. There was about 25 people in the van. Only in DR will you have a chic in a business suit sitting on a dude transporting a bucket of fish...smh
