Re: Getting started as a monger, the new section
Fantastic post from Ralphie, the English to Spanish phrases were very useful for any newbie..
Maybe someone could post some translations that would be particularly useful to isoc members with limited or no Spanish?
It's a big help to know how to ask where the bathroom is, but what about the phrases you will never find in a phrase book such as..
You are beautiful, but I only want to pay 1000 pesos for short time
You have the perfect ass/pussy
I want to cum in your mouth
etc etc

Ok so another question ha ha... I am a bit shy at first and well.. Do the girls come up to you or do you have to go to them? I mean in Hongkong I could sit and talk with them for a bit... have her kiss on me a bit and enjoy.. then talk a bit about price and go up to the room... Is this the same way or do I have to get some balls and go to them? Also any of you guys military or Vets? I planned On comming down to POP around the 7th until that Mon.. Would love to say hi.. Fantastic post Ralphie! A lot of useful, detailed information and advice. I went to Sosua for the first time this year and had agood time. However, I would like to try Jamaica next. I wish there was a similar useful post for a newbie going to Jamaica as this one.
Anyone got any useful info on Jamaica. Thanks

Some will come up to you, sometimes to the point of being annoying. They'll grip and grope (and pickpocket if you're not careful). If you like that, then you won't have a problem. Being shy shouldn't be an issue. Just walk up to a chica and say "hola". They're pretty much the same everywhere. If you pick up chicas in Bangkok, you can do so in the D.R..

Re: Getting started as a monger, the new section
Big Up to Ralphie for this thread. It really answers many of the questions i've had about my upcoming DR trip. I'm mainly gonna take it slow, play it by ear and see what happens. Info like this certainly helps to decrease the anxiety levels. Seriously.. Thanks to everyone here...I've really learned sooo much that I feel almost fully prepared for my trip. All I need now is rosetta stone.... anyone got a hookup?

Re: Getting started as a monger, the new section
Great guide, Ralphie -
One thing that might have gotten more coverage is the money-belt thing. Cash is king - to be sure - and it can be hard to get an ATM machine to dispense it.
Some years ago, I found an "Eagle Creek" money-pouch that has a long twill-tape loop to hang it from your belt; then you tuck the pouch inside the waistband of your slacks, and "it disappears". I find it very convenient and effective for my cash, credit cards, and even my passport after I've cleared customs.
For carrying money in town, I use one of those little money-clip billfolds, with a spring clip to hold the bills at its center and a couple of pockets for ID. It's the lightest, least-conspicuous thing I could find. I don't carry any actual, officially-produced ID in it - just a color print of the photo page of my passport, scanned and sized to be printed credit-card size in those "photo stations" they have in so many pharmacies and other such stores these days. (This actually looks "pretty official," and it won't get rumpled and torn the way a photocopy might. You can even laminate it to be sure it will hold up.)
But yeah - passports and any money save what you're going to use tonight NEEDS to be locked up in your hotel room's strongbox. Incidentally, gentlemen, the New Garden strongboxes have electronic locks so you can punch in your own personal code - and they're big enough to hold a good-sized laptop.
