It doesn't really matter how much you change, except that if you don't want to get caught short, why not change more?

I did $500 at a whack. That gives you about 16,000 dop or so. That's enough for girls and food for half the week or better.

Not even close bro...I am far from rich, but I do know how to budget so when I am on vacation I can party. I was in the DR 20+ weeks last year and I have noticed it's getting a little pricey...hotels and airfare are cheap for me, but meals and beers are no bargin.

For starters, I usually wife-up with an ATF....no pay for PUTA (in the direct sense)......

My average day (in the Zona Colonial-Sto Dgo w/ an ATF) starts with FREE breakfast at my hotel....lunch, is multiple beers and food ($1000DRP-$1500DRP) and dinner can be light (same as lunch) or some place nice ($2000DRP). It's a tourist area, and I know I pay premium prices at certain places....but, I've never had a "bad" meal and I always drop an extra 10% to the help....I never wait for a table and get treated well.

I always empty the mini-bar in the room (set the shit aside) and fill it with store bought water, beer, Cokes, rum etc....I don't buy any "imported booze" like HENNESEY or Johnny Walker...the DR shit is CHEAP.

My result to this formula, unlimted good pussy, good food, cold beer, little or no bullshit.......

I don't go to So-sewer, but I've heard it's cheaper there to eat, but from the stories I read here, it's not worth the aggrivation some experience.

My last trip cost me about $1500 for 6 days....including airfare, taxis, hotel....and my time on the rock.

I learned a long time ago, you spend more money worrying about saving nickels and dimes than you will if you go and just enjoy good times.

Actually if you stick to Dominican style places, its about the same prices.

Whose business is it what another monger earns or how he spends his dinero?

There are guys that make 7 figures on here, and drink Presidente from the bottle walking down Pedro C.....while other guys spend their entire overtime check on rounds of Bailey's for putas.

It depends on what you want.

Let's say a chica a day runs you DR$ 500 for ST in the afternoon or DR$ 1,000 ST in the evening
    Breakfast DR$ 125 - 250 (alone, incl coffee)
    Lunch DR$ 250 - 500 (alone, incl 2 drinks)
    Dinner DR$ 350 - 750 (alone, incl 2 drinks)

Keep in mind that the bottom numbers have you eating in Dominican places and at roadside stalls and fucking dogs.

So, to me a reasonable number would be around US$ 100 a day, to enjoy yourself (incl a girl), hang out on the beach and have good food

That's about right...for spending money for one guy to fuck, eat and drink. If you think you're going to get to do a session at Passions, hit a casino, a dance club and/or hang out with some ISOC road dogs....add fitty a day to that, and live well.

I think the problem is the DR has gotten a rep that it is a CHEAP place to go to.....it is not.....it is CHEAPER than the U.S. for certain things (HOEtels, pussy and Dominican RUM) but....even RICE and FLOUR has gone up in recent weeks, so food (and fuel) are headed up.

My biggest savings is my airfare (Spirit from Fort Lauderdale) I never spend more than $250...and the other day they offered me a "special fare" that was $136 round trip! I can't drive anywhere round trip for that!

Cainer, while I don't want to give up what I make...do the math, I was in the DR 20+ weeks last year...I have NO LIFE in the USA, I save my pesos to go away to play!

    Safe travels!

This post should be in the D.R. monger bible. Of course there will be days when you want to plan something a little mre expensive like an upscale restaraunt or a TLN with a superstar but if you bring $4,000RD with you and plan to spend $3,000RD over the course of the day you'll cover most eventualities.

I peronally don't like $2,000RD notes because in the dark they can be confusing to my old/ drunk eyes so I'll usually carry three $1k (RD) notes and stash two 500's. I'll get one of the $1k's broken down to hundreds at the desk on the way out. All change from the 100's goes into my tip pocket.

First off el capitan, let me apoligize for stereo typing u as a rich guy. I read your original post wrong the first time.

I got the impression u went for 2000 peso meals everyday and i guess i was somewhat jealous that i have to live on 150 pesos meals or eat the food i bought at supermarcado back in my room, just so i can stay within my budget.

As it turns out, we seem to be on about the same budget. I am leaving on the 15th of this month with about the same amount u had for your 6 days.

once again, please except my apoligies if i offended u in anyway. I was trying to show some weyland humour and i guess us Canadians arent as funny as the brits are.

HAHAHA, Bro- I NEVER took any offense.....while I do dump 2000 pesos for dinner ($60USD) most nights....it's for two people, one of which is a gringo who drinks....and drinks....I like to do "rum tastings" between beers.

I look for $150peso meals at every turn as well, however in the Colonial Zone they are far and few between exept at lunch time....problem is by the time I get done with 4 or 5 Presidente Grandes, the bill for lunch is $1000pesos!

Enjoy your trip and I hope I helped you understand PE$O$ !
