I went through Cheeno's emails thoroughly..but the problem is to look for chicas and bargain with them in the city...In BC..they are lot of them on Duarte and when I sit in Daphne..they come to me.. I hardly speak any spanish..and thinking SD might be a tough time for me..What do you guys think?
Try Hotel Mercure (corner of Conde y Hostos) for a decent place to stay. ($65 a night with breakfast)

You can score outside the front door at the patio tables and the hotel is "chica friendly" for a small fee and they hold her cedula til you return with her...good security..

..from there you're two blocks to Cafeteria Penalba, the Hard Rock and the park in front of La Primera Cathedral. (you can score there easily)

South on Hostos from the hotel is a cool piano bar, across the street from the hotel is a good restaurant Meson de Luis and on the next corner a fantastic place to eat Meson de Bari....and Club NoWhere is between them!

There's a safe "movil cambio" right there as well, and the guy speaks English. It's a blue van, he's there everyday....he too, will hook you up.

The area is safe and plenty of the girls speak English...you can also PM me, I have a phone number for a guy who speaks English and will take care of your needs there....or if you wish, look for him in front of the little casino next to La Dispensa, a big guy in a ball cap, Jose....chances are he'll approach you!

    No mas BC para mi!

hey chenno. how ya been? i wanted to share this with all but mostly for "you"!!! cuz you seem to help out all.i hope this can be useful...
i recently stayed at napilatano hotel. i booked on line and they charged me $64 a night for 4 nights and i reserved a king size bed....(on my friends credit card) anyway when i got there, they didnt honor the reservation and wouldnt let me check in.. cuz i didnt bring me credit card or my friends card,, i had to pay cash.. but the worst was,, they didnt charge tax online!! which now made the room $82 a night.. i didnt stay at the jaragua for $80 bucks or melia for $76 cuz it showed that the napalatano was cheaper... so i thought.. just for future refference... and yes i can verify that in the past i did book online at other hotels and the online price is the price per night includes tax.. i found this a little shady!! and the casino is closed, as well, the room was in good condition but way out dated!!!

i will one day try that mercure ,just dont like being on "el conde" .. my bet is jaragua or the melia for the price and casino as well as the action!!!

Chicas are definitely not allowed in the tower building. It's possible to sneak them into the back building but why bother? There's also the cabanas if you insist on using the points and staying there. I don't think much of the Jaragua.

Care to elaborate ? I won't be offended. I really like it there. You can leave your $ & valuables laying around in the room and it will never get touched. The casino is right there. The pool is a really nice environment where you can meet interesting people from all over the world and you can always get into a friendly volleyball game. Gym on premises. The only thing I dont like is how they price gouge you for something simple like coffee poolside.

    1. It's NOT Chica friendly.
    2. It's too expensive for what you're getting. Their idea of 3 star is not mine.
    3. It's just a room. You can see the bed from the door.
    4. No cooking facilities in the rooms.
    5. If I want to play Casino games, I'll go to Vegas.
    6. Everything in there is overpriced
    7. I don't like staying in the heart of the Malecon close to the bump & grind.
    8. The staff is neither friendly nor helpful.
    9. Did I mention NOT CHICA FRIENDLY???
I spent my 1st night on the island at the Intercontinental V Centenario down the street which is supposedly a 4 star hotel. The folks at HQ should come make them take the Intercontinental sign down. Fuck the priority club points. We spent the next 7 nights at the Acuarium and found the following:
    1. It's CHICA FRIENDLY! If you don't have a Chica for whatever reason, the staff will help you find one.
    2. 1 and 2 br suites with sitting rooms furnished with futons, sleeps 4.
    3. 2/3 the cost of a night's stay at the Jaragua, 1/2 the cost of a night at the Intercontinental.
    4. Acuarium is 10 minutes closer to the airport and beaches. I'm a water baby.
    5. All apartments have fully equipped kitchens with refrigerator, stove, some have microwaves.
    6. apartments are available with private terraces, front and rear private balconies at no etra cost
    7. Manicure/ pedicure/ massage services are available on site ($20).
    8. The full service restaraunt has a varied menu with great food and expert Italian chefs. The food is very reasonably priced.
    9. The bar and lounge area is very comfortable, drinks are reasonably priced and the entire area is served by wifi free of charge.
    10. The entire property is gated with 24/7 security.
    11. They have their own taxis. The prices are reasonable (700 pesos to the airport last week/ 1000 pesos r/t to Guayacanes beach for 5 hours, 200 pesos to Jaragua) and they'll pick you up, drop you off, wait all day if you like, whatever. They make it easy to overtip the drivers and they answer to the hotel management.
    12. Nice pool, jacuzzi. Inexpensive laundry service on site.
    13. I'll bet the fucking Jaragua doesn't have a Bocce gallery! Acuarium does.
    14. I can check in any time I like. They always have my room in perfect oder and ready. No credit card, no nothing, just a phone call. Everyone there remembered our names on the second visit and it took 20 minutes to check in as we went through the entire staff with hugs and handshakes. It feels like coming home.
    15. There's a contingent of international owners (Italian) who have befriended us as regular guests and treat us like visiting dignitaries, even offerred us ownership opportunities The grounds are expansive and the gardens are immaculate. In between whoring there's a geat chance of striking up a good game of chess, sharing an inexpensive bottle of fine Italian vino and learning a thing or two from pople who know the island far better than I do. At breakfast I wifi while I dine at the ($6/ all you can eat & drink) breakfast buffet and I watch the procession of beauties stroll out with or without the guys they spent the night with (we call it the "walk of shame") and these guys are definitely tapping into the most prime motherlode of poon in town. Occassionally one will sense my admiration and make an offer I can't refuse or line up for a later date. You should see some of the sloppy seconds I'm getting.
I was so impressed with this place that I spent the next 10 consecutive trips there. The staff is like family and we even stay in touch with ex staff members who've moved on to better opportunities. Guess where I'm staying in June?

Thanks Grey, it certainly sounds like a place to definitely give a try,at least for a night to get the feel for it.
    Was it clean though ?
I did a search, with " hotel acuarium santo domingo"
and the very first result on virtual tourist had a negative review as of 4/2/08. I will check this place out in July .

Clean as the proverbial "hound's tooth". The housekeeping staff is thorough, helpful and professional. The common facilities are kept in great shape as well. I can't imagine a negative review on this place unless you get one of these hoity toity diamond encrusted blue haired blue bloods who expect the place to be the Waldorf Astoria. It's not like that. The place is in a very busy outskirt and at night there's a beehive of activity as the surrounding bars, pool halls and sports bar (La Base) are teeming with locals getting their fun on. Just a block away there are hundreds of local Chicas freelancing up and down Ave. Espana and every once in a while you'll hear a fight or a gunshot in the neighborhood.

When I'm on the hotel grounds I never lock my door. Nothing has ever come up missing. There's only one way in and one way out and everyone from the security guards to the Manager sees all foot traffic on the premises. There are security cameras on all common areas within and without.

What I like most about the place is that it's a 2 minute drive to my favorite spots on Ave. Charles DeGaulle with my favorite places to eat (Restaraunt Segura) and drink (Eagle Sports Bar) and there's malls, supermercados, major health club facilities and all kinds of places to eat, drink, shop and get the real flavor of the D.R. as we don't run into many tourists where we go.

They can tell you about this place better than I can. Check out ther semi-functional web site:

I will take your word for it and give it a try.

Well the guy/gal who wrote the review said he saw "prostitutes" walking about.... EGADS , I am HORRIFIED !!!!!!!!
so, Im guessing he/she has an axe to grind over some dispute with the hotel so now they took every shot they possibly could .

    BWAAAHAHAHAHAHA

The "prostitutes" they saw walking about were probably a couple of mine.

There's rarely any really overt hoing going down on the property. Occasionally freelancers will vacation there for the weekend but they operate with a high degree of discetion. I posted this one up about a year and a half ago ina trip report:

Saw her and another when they got out of the pool to get ice cream. Dominican women make eating popsicle torturous for any man watching. That's all it took....off to the room....

There are a ton of freelancers along the seawall and a few blocks away where the burned out shell of Jazzy Club still stands. Definitely not a place for Evangelicals out there but inside the gates it's all 1st class.

3 blocks and you don't have to look for them. They're hunting for you.

Is this out of SD city and more towards Boca Chica? Will transportation be a problem if we stay in this hotel? Since it is on outskirts of SD, how the chica rates? Can you give us some info?

It's still Santo Domingo. The neighborhood is called "Ensanche Isabelita and it's just West of the center of town. It's a half mile West from the National Aquarium and Naval Academy. Calle #11 off of Aveida Espana.
