A Report on the 10/5 show. Izod Center, East Rutherford, NJ (Meadowlands)
I've been an Aventura fan for a while, but was unable to make any of the recent DR shows. So this was my first. Driving up the NJ turnpike I figured that Aventura would be the opening act (followed by Enrique Iglesias) and I would be home by 10:00. This was not to be the case !! I was a bit bummed to be just back from Sosua the day before - and I made a few phone calls.
A DJ (DJ Prime) started the evening off at around 8:00. Most of the crowd seemed to consider it backround music and kept doing their thing. A Shakira tune mix got a positive response. Definitely a better choice for the Latino crowd than the Hendrix and Bowie which was played over the house system earlier.
Somewhere near 9:00 Enrique Iglesias took the stage. This surprised me - as I figured he was the headliner and the concert was billed as an Iglesias show. While I'm not all that familiar with his music, I recognized some of the tunes from the radio. He did an impressive show - complete with ticker-tape celebration and triple-encore. Most shows would have been over right at that point - and it was already about 10:30.
The usual set-change. Finally Aventura took the stage at after 11:00 - beginning with fireworks and their "Los Infieles" tune. As expected, the crowd went crazy - Louder than for Iglesias. They spun through a lot of their popular hits - similar to the KOB DVD. A spirited Romeo had the chicas mesmorized, as one would expect. Chicas were escorted up on-stage, as is usually part of their shows. Impressive showmanship and musicianship - as the fans have come to expect from Aventura. After an array of tunes, they brought things to an end with their trademark "Mi Corazoncito" tune - complete with a flaming heart lowered from the ceiling. The crowd went crazy. Of course, it turned out to be a late night - but well-worth the effort.
Chicas - OK someone is going to ask. And this is a chica site, right ?? My first comment is that I didn't see too many young chicas. This was probably because of ticket prices. I believe that even the "cheap" seats started at over $60. A hot latina sat down next to me - complete with bambino and novio. She made eye-contact once with me and immediately looked away - and never glanced at me for the remainder of the evening - even kind of positioning herself to face away from me while sitting. Her camera was 4 times as nice as mine. On my right, 3 pleasant-looking chicas sat down. I took their picture for them and made a little small talk. But as soon as my questions stopped, they looked away. No interest there. This is not to say that there wasn't a bevy of hot Latina beauties there - there certainly was. Lots of eye-candy. Conclusion: This is not La Passion !! What else can I say !!!
There seemed to be no problemas with bringing in cameras, so a few pics are attached below.
