It is low in Cabarete also. My wife just got 26 to the dollar. Ouch! The exchange rate has gone down but not the prices. Food, Drinks and Whores are still high.

Cabarete historically is 2 - 4 Pesos lower than Sosua Cambio rate!
ENVIOS is paying 34 right now!
From my experiences in the POP clubs the chicas start off at 4000-5000 TLN... They usually come down ... or came down back a few months ago to 2500-3000... In Sosua the average girl would go from 1000-1500 TLN at most 2000... but i wouldnt pay it... updates in a weekOriginally Posted by Don Tomas

50 for a really nice GFE is hard to beat...
And for the monger that sent his Western Union Chica $2,000 US greenbacks
(Which is about 60,000 DR pesos more than a years pay)
You need JESUS man.

Oh what a lovely tea party (Jay and Silent Bob strike back quote)
enviosboya.com has it at 33-1 right now ... it was 34-1 earlier today
ENVIOS is just buying back the $US they shorted @ 34!
All of these cambios are in actually no different than NASDAQ market makers. Buy low sell HIGH!
I just got back yesterday from Sosua and the peso went nuts during my 5 days there. It started out as 33-1 on Wednesday, went down to 27/28-1 within a day and went back up yesterday to 32-1.
I bumped into Mav on the plane yesterday and he said it went from 37-1 - 28-1 in the week he was there. I was also speaking with Diego at the Europa about this and he said he heard it will go up again but not much.
What is pretty interesting is that even though the peso is going down, all of the prices for EVERYTHING in the stores/bars/restaurants are going up regardless. An example - a pequena at the Domino Bar is now 60 pesos, cigarettes at Super Super have gone from 299 pesos to 389 pesos, a bottle of Bailey's at Super Super was 560 + pesos when the peso was at 28-1, a pizza at Isla Bonita has gone from around 175 pesos to 225+ depending what you want on it. It does not end there. It is happening all over town. They all are definitely trying to get while the getting is good. I guess they are trying to make as much as they can as quickly as they can.
Still beats being home in my book....just bring a few extra bucks and you will be good to go.

Similarly, a 22-oz bottle of Presidente beer will now cost RD$50, while a 12-oz bottle sells for RD$30, representing increases of 22% and 20% over previous prices.
