Try the ones direcion Gaspar Hernandes. Very clean and brand new. Very quiet and the meat is also well. I can recommend them....

    Re: Cabanas

I am probably very stupid at least on this topic, but what is the purpose of Cabanas, and are there ladies there on site or is this basically like a motel when you are on the road and can't get back to your place or you don't want to use your place for whatever reason; and what are their rates, please inform. I have seen them especially on the way to Santiago, I figured they are basically like motels am I wrong?

They are like motels but specifically designed for discreet sexual encounters and short-time bookings (4 hours or so). All your dealings with the staff, such as paying, ordering food and drinks etc, are done via a hatch or dumb waiter to preserve the anonymity of married middle-class Dominicans getting a bit on the side. They are not at all aimed at the gringo tourist market. They vary from motel quality to quite luxurious.

Thank you Mr. Weyland for educating this gringo. As I said I have seen them but didn't understand why. What are their rates, on the average if you know. And what do they provide besides a bed, I guess very limited. Maybe one day when I am somewhere when I need a quicky it will be a viable option.

Not always. I have seen pictures of some with mini-swimming pools, fountains, many have jacuzzis, some have sex swings and gynaecological chairs, condoms (sometimes sex-toys) are available through the hatch service, etc. I would guess these more upmarket ones are only found near the main cities?

The ones near Puerto Plata (which are fairly basic) used to be 600 pesos for up to 4 hours but there are guys on this site who know far more than me so I will leave them to give you more complete and up-to-date information.

    Re: Cabanas

I have done some extensive research on the cabanas in Santiago but have little on the Puerto Plata ones. I'm putting together an extensive post which I'll place on the Santiago hotels site.
In the interim here is an interesting low cost Dominican love hotel/cabana on the autopista just before you get to Rafael Vidal from the airport in Santiago. Other than a small sign overhead on a pole, you would never know it's there. Even after entering the gate there is just an vacant restaurant - the cabanas are in the back - secluded.
The price was 200 pesos and that included a Presidente grande and 2 plastic cups.
The bucket in the corner was the bathroom.
You can see the bed in the pix shot thru the door, a massage table like thing.
And no, we didn't try it out.

    Re: Cabanas

Here you go Yayow. This is from a trip report I wrote a couple of years ago.

    Cabana 101

For those of you who don’t know what a cabana is think of it as a motel with an attached garage. You roll in your car, taxi, autobus, moto etc. and close the garage door. They range from serviceable to faux attempts to replicate, such as Helios in STI, grand hotel rooms. You rent them in 4 hour blocks. The one I use in POP is Sensacions. There are two types of rooms there standard and executiva. The cost with una grande (I’ve never rented one without the beer so I have no idea what the base cost is. For me in the DR sex and Presidente go hand in hand) is 320 pesos for the standard room and 460 for the executiva. A few days earlier I had used an standard room to fulfill a misguided urge for nostalgia after playfully aducting a ex from the company of her startled sister. Both the room and the experience were unsatisfying and at the end I wanted my money back from all parties. The girls of course want to go to the executiva. T takes K over to the next unit. Yeimy enters ours. Note it is good manners and earns you brownie points, that you may be able to cash in later, to ask your guest if the room is acceptable to her. The difference between the standard room and the upgraded one is in size and toys to play with. The larger room has a sunken heart shape tub and there is usually a sex chair for you more adventurous types. In both types of rooms there is a TV with the requisite porn channel, aire (air conditioning), abanica (ceiling fan), and of course luz (lights). About 5 minutes after you close the garage door you are contacted via the internal telephone and asked how long you’ll be staying and if you want anything to drink. 5 to 10 minutes after that you will hear a buzzer. At this point you are expected to pay for both the room and the drink order. All business is conducted anonymously through a turnstile type box that is contained in the outside facing wall. Now you are ready to go.

Don't forget to bring your own large towel as the ones they give you seem smaller than a washcloth, as well as your own soap and Im not sure how it is in Sosua but the ones in SD dont have any shower heads, so if you want a real shower instead of one big stream of water, bring your own.

    Re: Cabanas

Depends on where you go. I visited a cabana outside of La Vega that was the bomb. Extremely large room, king size bed, a beautiful single armed leather sofa, and very nice bathroom with good towels. All for 500 pesos for three hours. The room was easily big enough for two couples to do their thing and the crew to film it. The funny thing was my date and I went there at 4:00 pm and they only had one room available. The place was packed. There's obviously is a lot of ST going on in that town and my experience in La Vega supported that conclusion. Seems like all the girls we encountered had boyfriend so TLN was out of the question yet they were more than willing to turn a trick before bed time. Hey, when the boyfriend has no money and you have no job you got to take odd jobs to pay for those trips to the salon and that fashionable attire.
