Advice for a quick one-nighter in Santo Domingo?

Greetings everyone! This is my first post on this board, but many of you know my handle from the CostaRicaTicas board, or met me a few weeks ago on my inaugural trip to Sosua...

I'm planning on flying out of San Jose, Costa Rica (counting the minutes until I can leave) this Wednesday evening on Taca and landing in Santo Domingo just past midnight. Due to the lateness of the hour, I'll need to book a hotel room for one night in Santo Domingo; then I'll be taking the Caribe Tours bus the next day to Sosua.

I've read through a few of the threads on Santo Domingo, but wondering if anyone can help me cut to the chase and recommend a good chica-friendly hotel for the night, and a quick "point-and-click" type of venue close by and still open at that hour where I might find some company? I'll be traveling alone - and it will be my first time in Santo Domingo - so the easier everything is, the better.

    Any assistance is much appreciated!

I would check in, sleep and start fresh the next morning.

I think this subject was covered in a thread once before...and agree with JDR. Get some sleep.

Don't waste the leche on a one night hit (or possible miss) in SD, save it for the street rats of So-sewer.

And I may very well may decide to do just that, so let's rephrase - how about a decent hotel at a decent rate, where I would have no trouble checking in past midnight, with good proximity to both the Santo Domingo airport and the Caribe Tours bus station?

Does such an animal exist? Would the Mystic work well enough?

Thanks again in advance for any assistance.

The bus is in the City, about 10 minutes from the Jarragua. You will need to take a $20 taxi, then pay $50 for a room and then grab the bus, so I would just cab it over when I arrived at midnight.

the mystic would be fine, it has 2 ho bars right next to it and if you miss them at that time the Jaragua will have some late nite action.

Why bother? He is coming from Costa Rica, so just rest up and start in the morning?

in that case, it's still a cheap stay and only 10-15mins from Caribe Tours

Cool Re: Advice for a quick one-nighter in Santo Domingo?

My man you might want to try the Hotel Mencure inside on El Conde inside the Colonial Zone. All of the cabbies are familiar with it.

    Happy Hunting!

    Hello and welcome to I.S.O.C.

Grab a cab at the airport and tell him to take you to the Mystic hotel (along the Malecon). The cab fare will be around 1,000 pesos. If the cab driver asks for more, then just leave him for another cab driver.

The cab driver might ask you if this is your first time to the DR. Just tell him, "I have been here a shit load of times." That way, he cannot fuck with you.

Also, tell the cab driver that the Mystic is right behind the Intercontinental hotel. Now he cannot fuck with you for sure.

Many cab drivers will try and screw with us.

The Mystik is 1,500 pesos for the night. The rooms have A/C, a nice shower, a comfortable bed, breakfast, and a TV.

There is a casa called "The Girl's House" which is right next to the Mystik hotel. And I mean "RIGHT NEXT TO IT"!!! Check it out.

When you enter The Girl's House, tell the girls and owner that you came alone (no cab driver and no tour guide). That way, no one can get a commission from you.

If not, then check out the bartenders and casino dealers at the Intercontinental hotel. Inside is a casino called "Atlantis Casino".

    Good luck and have fun!!!
