I hope it stabilizes someplace, anyplace, and stays there. These fluctuations have really messed us up. What does it work out to for a beer these days in Sosua, two or three bucks? Jeez, I can buy a beer in a local ripoff strip joint 5 minutes from where I live for 5 bucks. Some of those meals I was enjoying at Morua Mai would be 10 to 15 bucks now, with a drink or two. Fuck. I can eat at a mind boggling buffet here in the US for less than that. I know, I know, we can afford it but shit, it's a third world country and we pay US prices? Just bugs me. Maybe it bugs me a little more than others because from south florida the usual airfares to POP are a few hundred bucks more than the flights from NYC, so I feel ripped off before I have even left the ground.

Just had to blow off a little steam.

The DR is still a great place to go. Hell, the prices in the tourist areas, anywhere in the world, are always higher than normal anyway. That's the way it is. Unbelievable how cheap things can get outside of those areas. In Chiang Mai, TL, I treated my GF and three of her friends to appetizers, dinners and drinks in her home neighborhood for only a little bit more than what I had been spending on a small steak dinner for me alone back in the tourist area.

That reminds me, gotta check the restaurant board for a good place to eat in Los Charamicos.

    1 US Dollar = 31.58000 Dominican R. Peso

1 Dominican R. Peso (DOP) = 0.03167 US Dollar (USD)

    Median price = 30.41800 / 31.58000 (bid/ask)
    Minimum price = 30.41800 / 31.58000
    Maximum price = 30.41800 / 31.58000

Por Favor, can you add some of these tidbits to the ROW (rest of the World) section of this forum?it would be a great start to expand that section for those of us who have the worst case of wanderlust. Como Los Charamicos. Estas El Hombre!

    That's not true.
Why do I get a better exchange rate @ Ban Reservas in SDQ then?
I guess I got "clipped" with an extra 1.5 RD Pesos/Dollar.
You are fine buying $100 worth of Pesos @ any airport.

Sorry, my bro, but that has not been my experience at all! (Sounds better than "That's not true", doesn't it?)...ya ya ya ya ya ya...Is too true, bro!

Maybe you have some connection with Ban Reservas in SDQ...how the fuck should I know? I'm talking about changing money at airports in general (including in D.R.), and that has not been my experience at all: 1.5 pesos SHORT is more like it.

Rough day at the office, bro? I feel ya... it's cool. LOL

    Anyone else?

WOW! 19 trips! I'm impressed! No wonder you call yourself "Master Traveler"! But then again, it didn't take me that long to figure things out in D.R., either! LOL

Anyone else out there have similar experience?

In the 7 trips I've taken, never ONCE has the airport been able to best or even equal what I got "en la calle"!

Guess I've got a lot to learn! Will you teach me, "Master Traveler"? LOL

    I's all good, bro.

    Dude:

    Chill the fuck out!
This board is about helping each other in Third World countries.
It is not about being right or wrong.
