    Hello Juggle

The bill came out to around 3,500 pesos.

I drank a Coke and MrHappy had water.

    Take care and good night.

Seems high to me if you didn't drank wine or alcohol.

Don't you think that the prices have increased strongly those days?

Even the price of the club girls.

Nope, that was Filet Mignon, one of the best I've EVER had in my life. Just look at the size of that puppy!

It was so tender, I could cut it with my fork (ask Cheeno)

David Crocketts is one of the "power lunch" places in Santo Domingo. Others are Porterhouse, Don Pepes, The train, and Andrew Jackson, to name a few.

    Hello Tomgueguen

The prices for chicas have gone up. But not for restaurants.

MrHappy and I went to a high-end restaurant. So the food here will be more expensive compared to Manolo Cafeteria, Harry's, or Chef Pepper.

Thanks Cheeno and Mr. Happy! There's some very good places in SD and I appreicate the fact you'll share them...

I wish others will share your flair....the DR is much more than cheap beans and tostones.....

$100USD is a GREAT MEAL in the DR ($3400-$3500pesos) and I for one feel I deserve a good meal on vacation....

When you consider that 26% of the bill was for taxes and service, it's really not that much.

We had a big appetizer, a large Ceaser salad, two main meals, and two desserts.

Now, if you want to go to a REAL expensive place......

Thats the only thing I hate about the country, the 26% tax add on.

    Re: David Crockett

David Crocketts used to be the "best" steakhouse in SD. I think Porterhouse now has that title. I have not been to train in many years and walk by it all the time. I may have to try it again. I also want to check out Madera behind Provocon on kennedy.

Still the best steak I have ever had in DR was at Che Tango in STI, they changed names and locations to mis buenos aires querido and then sold to a dominican and now it is called Puerto Madero. . . . .I was suprised to see the quality was still good after changing owners. We'll have to see how long that can last.

16% is tax, 10% is gratuity. So I don't overtip. In fact dont tip any additional at all unless the service is really good.

I agree with you here....with the exception of the smaller places that I KNOW I'll be back to (good location/seating close to the street so I can spit at hoes)...then I ALWAYS toss an extra 10% ca$h into the pot.....that way I'm remembered (either for being a stupid gringo who overpays or the gringo who tips...) I'm about getting what I want, when I want it (as in a seat) and I'm willing to pay for that...

Here we call it tipping the matre d or HOEstess
