Warning Anyone know anything about this?? (829 area code)

One of boys told me that he got a call from his chica in the DR. She changed her number to the (829) area code and told him the reason she did this is because it would now be free to call her from the US, using that Dominican area code.

Have any of you guys heard of this?? I am guessing it is something new...

    Anybody know the provider??

    Thanks!

Hes right 829 is what they started using a while ago when 809 got pretty much used up. In the DR all inbound calls are free like TropicBob said. The caller pays.

He said that she JUST switched her number. He doesn't speak very good Spanish and her English isn't good, so I can only imagine the conversation!! That is why he asked me to ask the experts!

Interesting concept but that's still 9 cents a minute. You can get calling cards with the same or similar rates too.

Not to a cell phone. The best I can do with a feeless cc is about 12 cents.

There are cards out that charge less per minute, but they have weekly/monthly fees, connection fees, or bill in 2 or 4 minute increments.

Re: Anyone know anything about this?? (829 area code)

For a while there, I was calling the DR every day for a shitload of minutes (guess why)

I found out that there are certain carriers of prepaid phones that do not discriminate between all the area codes that they service on "The Americas" list.

What that means is that you can call the DR for the same rate that you call the next state.

The actual cost per minute varies according to a number of factors, the way it would if you were calling here.

Those factors include how many minutes you buy at once, if you buy a double minutes, or use another volume buying program.

This was the best deal I found, and I looked alot.

For a while there, I was using over 5,000 minutes a month.

For specifics, if you have the need, PM me. I don't want to fuck the situation I found by doing a shitload of comparison shopping by posting the details openly.
