The well-known steak house, Rancho Luna, went up in smoke yesterday afternoon, depriving Santiago and the surrounding area of one of its best restaurants. The restaurant, famous for its food as well as its location in the foothills of the Cordillera Septentrional, caught fire around 1:30 yesterday afternoon, and was gone in minutes. According to Modesto Fermin, the owner, thirty years of work were lost. He estimated his financial losses at about RD$60 million. Firefighters from Tamboril and Santiago came to the rescue but the secluded location that made the place so attractive, also spelled its doom.
