That's exactly right, e-mailing Linda, that is. She actually manages the web presence and marketing for one studio at CD which is owned by a German fellow named Peter.

Also, if anyone is ok with staying in a studio here, you can email Linda at Mel Tours about the availability and you'll receive a prompt response to your email. http://www.mel-tour.com/english/inde...ppartments.php

Thanks for that heads up on Linda at Mel Tours. Unfortunately she is booked during my dates.

I should add that Linda was VERY prompt and got back to me very quickly.

    Re: Condosdominicano

I spoke with Colin this morning,
nice guy by the way. Anyway, the deal is if you don't hear from him, he never received your email. There seems to be some type of issue with entering requests on the website and it actually reaching his inbox. He showed me his yahoo account and I believe him. Anyway, he showed me his reservation book and they're pretty much booked solid through march. He says the easiest months to get a reservation are June - Aug and even then you should still try to book months in advance if possible. Anyway, this place is perfect for me as I'm pretty low key and prefer a peaceful atmosphere. If anyone is interested I can take pics of my unit and post them when I return. Sorry in advance if this is kind of cluttered, I'm posting from my iPhone.

As a previous owner, I can tell you most units is very basic, but the location of the place is perfect.

    Re: Condosdominicano

I emailed Colin and he responded promptly every time. The problem is that he doesn't have any 2 bedrooms with AC. Not sure how many of his units have AC in total. Sorry, but I can't do Sosusa without AC (when it's 90 degrees)!

    Re: Condosdominicano

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think any of the units have air condition. Every unit is individually owned. Maybe somebody has installed it, but from the start, there was no ac there.
My personal opinion is that you realy don't need A C in Sosua, at least not in the period from november until may.

I talked to Colin (GM, Condos Dominicano) about his unresponsiveness to e-mail inquiries and also showed him comments from this specific thread.

He got back to me today and stated that they finally uncovered the technical glitch which caused e-mails to vanish into the vast blue voids of the Internet. He furthermore stated that in excess of 270 e-mails were just recovered today and apologizes to everyone affected.

Let's hope for an improved responsiveness going forward.

Improved is a broad term. I had one guy get back to me 2 weeks later on a no brainer deal. Some of them don't give a shit. Not talking about Collin. He actually got back to me right away. Nice guy.

    Re: Condosdominicano

Had booked eight nights (Mar 20 -28) at Condos Dominicanos; my usual studio unit #14, I believe, was not available. Was instead offered a different studio (#6) with a different owner at the same property.
I was quite dissatisfied w/ the experience: small bed, the unit was a dump and needs overhaul. Moved out after three nights and had 50% of the remaining monies refunded.

Maybe my days at CD are numbered. Looking at different options for three weeks in July.

    Re: Condosdominicano

Oh great......gonna be there on apr9 for a week...should I plan a back-up? This will be my first time in town and the location and relative 'quiet' that the website exudes and price were my reasons for booking....not planning on wall to wall orgy type scenarios on my holiday so I figured this might do the trick...less than 2 weeks and now I have to deal with this possiblity.
    feeling somewhat less than ideal.

just saw your post on hotel orchidee...will check it out if all falls apart at condos...

CD is a very good place, and I generally recommend it highly (cf. previous posts in this thread).
To put it into perspective: this was my 4th stay and 1st unsatisfactory one. If chicas were to work out 75% of the time, we'd all be married to Sosua hookers...

What apartment # are you staying in?

    IDEAL

If your looking for the hilton, go elsewhere, but if you can deal with motel 6, and everything you need, but a little dated, then you should be ok. I am a regular at CD, and can't complain for the $, its a good location and the grounds are laid back, nice pool, and they keep it clean, doyour laundry for 200 peso, and don't mind the people that live there, just show respect, and you will get the same.

Lyndsay is a good lady... did you rent a studio or one BR from her???

    Re: Condosdominicano

    My offending unit was #6.
    I can vouch for #20 and #14.

Suffice it to say that I have known Lindsay and Linda personally for quite some time. And btw, the new coffee grinder in #6 is from amazon.com hand-delivered to Lindsay by your's truly.

#6 just didn't do it for me. Neither do grande culos...

#14 is fine. You'll be ok!

    /M

P.S.: Thinking about it: I meant to reserve #14 for July. What are your dates?

    Fuck you!

Thinking about it: my mind has outgrown the small confines of CD. But let's plan to meet for a beer nevertheless.
