What's is like in September in Sosua

    Hello fellow hobbyists,
What's it like in September in Sosua? I've visited DR several times but never been in the off-season. I realize that September is hurricane season. So are all the places going to be dead, and devoid of any fine chicas?

Should the negotiation for chicas be conducted the same manner during this time, or should I assume that since they're not seeing as much business, they'll be quicker to jump on any type of deal?

    Thanks all for your input.

Everything should be about the same. Sosua doesnt seem to take any major hits during hurricane season only lots of rain. Right before Christmas there definitely seems to be more chicas abound looking for money but also more mongers.

Besides a major holiday like Christmas expect plenty of chicas looking to make some money.

Going in slow season actually helps since there will be less buyers and more sellers.

Thanks for asking this question in a thread. I'm headed down for my first DR excursion in Sept., and would like the local's view. Having lived in the Caribbean for a couple of autums, I know Sept is the deadest month, and this is partly why I am travelling in Sept. I want to experience the DR more from a local point of view, before the tourists swarm in.

My guess is, that on an Island country with nine million inhabitants, the second largest Caribbean nation after Cuba, September is probably a lot different in the DR than in the smaller islands; for example the leaward islands (Lesser Antilles) where I lived.

Forget the huricanes - the south is what gets hit, not the north.

Sept is fine, plenty of chicas. You won't get rock-bottom prices but negotiating may be a little easier due to less tourists. But don't count on it. I've been in Sept many times - no regrets.

'usually' doesn't count when discussing hurricanes, IMHO, having been thru a couple. Don't worry about hurricanes for the reason that you will have advance notice if one is about to make landfall. That being the case - leave. You can be gone in 12 hrs notice. My advice.

More rain than in August, less than in October (my experience). It will probably rain a lot. It's not as crowded, but there will still be PLENTY of chicas. Now if you're talking about Labor Day weekend, it will be packed with us gringos!

Was there last September – lots of Chicas, but the weather was not the best for Sun bathing. If your looking to bang chicas and not do weather dependant sight seeing then September is as good a time as any.

    Have fun!

PS – If it is wet, and you dont have a women, why not get to Passions, get under the roof there and have a Choc Milk and a nice young lady to keep you warm?

yeah having been there many times i"m definitely not looking to do any sightseeing..hopefully the rain stays away for one day so I can hit up the beach, but if not, I'm fine with staying in and enjoying the company of a fine chica

There is a major highway in Santiago named after Feb 27. Always wondered why.

Yeah you will notice that phenomena in every city and town throughout the D.R., they aren't very original for the most part when it comes to naming streets. You will find Febrero 27 and Duarte and a few other commonly used names of streets, in just about every decent size town or city. They tend to name their main streets after historical figures, and dates.
Why should I limit myself to only one woman when I can have as many women as I want?

If your in Santo Domingo and are interested in learning more about Dominican history, go to Calle Conde.

All the way at the far end of the street (it's a nice walk), you will see this fort like structure.

Inside is the tomb of Duarte and other Dominican heroes . There is also a series of painting displayed outside that form a "timeline" of Dominican history if you read the narrative descriptions.

And in Santo Domingo, they do show good judgement in naming their major streets. My favorites are:
    -Avenida John F. Kennedy.
    -Avenida Abraham Lincoln.
-and Avenida Winston Churchill (his mother Sarah was American!)
