    Re: F.Y.I ...JetBlue New D.R.destination

I made my last trip in June into and out of El Catey. It is a nice airport and the prices were excellent at the time, $395 roundtrip from BOS. Current price for September from BOS is $513. Transportation from the airport may be a hassle. You are at the mercy of the taxi mafia unless you rent a car.

My suggestion would be to use a local company from Las Terrenas to rent from, especially if staying in or near LT. This way they will meet you at the airport with the car and then escort you back to town and to your place of stay. This way you will be assured to not get lost and get the feel of driving in the DR and the lay of the land before taking off "cold turkey". I used Richard Rent Car in Las Terrenas 809-240-6557.

The only rental company with an office at the airport is SIXT car rental and I have not heard good things.

Then again a better option for you might be to fly to SDQ and rent a car there for half the price (airfare is cheaper too) and just put up with the extra hour and a half drive.
