    Best way to go

I have to drive from Sosua to Santo Domingo next Sunday morning. Anyone have the best route to take and how long should I expect the trip to take? Also anyone know where I can get a good road map quickly. I'm in the states now but I'm flying in on Friday and 2 days later heading out to S.D. Thanks in advance for any assistance............

If you're going to Santo Domingo to fly out, the best route is via the new Samana highway that ends at the entrance of the AILA airport. Very easy to find your way.

If not, I'd recommend the tourist route to Santiago, and from there, the autopista Duarte to SD.
If you think it's love try not paying in the morning..

Where are you going in Santo Domingo, east or west? If you're going to the east side, the New Highway is probably your best bet.

For someone like me that lives in the NorthWest part of the city, I take the route through the mountains to Moca.

It's almost an hour to the entrance of the new highway from my house, in the wrong direction.

It's a wash. Take the new highway.

(Sosua to the Consulate? Think twice)

I am trying to sponsor a work visa for my D.R. friend who has been driving me around for 9 years. He works in Sea Horse Ranch at about 5 of the villas there.

Good luck, but the odds are against it. Does he own significant property in DR/ Have money in the bank? Children and wife to return to?

I have 2 clients that were just denied 1 time entry for an industry event. One from Brazil and one from Mexico. The guy from Mexico shot himself in the foot but the guy from Brazil went to college in Canada and was still denied.

DR is second to Philipines as far as visa fraud so it is usually harder to get a visa than in mexico or brazil.

Not trying to dissuade you and I do wish the best of luck, just prepare for the worst and be happy if it goes well.

Damn, I was hoping to fly to Brazil, find a "maid" and get a "work visa" for her. I guess it isn't that easy.

He does own a home, which he just finished building. A very nice home by Dominican standards($27,000.00 US). He does have a wife and 3 kids. I do have a lawyer and he also says it is very difficult, he will be put on the end of the line which takes years(approx 2 to 4) before he would get the chance to leave.
