Only if you can get the special rate for residents, otherwise it's a bit pricey.

    Re: Courtyard Mariott

Yesterday, I went to the Mariott and asked for their rate.

Even with my AAA discount, they wanted $159 USD plus 26% tax.

You get the special $69 plus 26% tax if you book for several days.

But the Mariott is one of the best hotels in Santo Domingo.

Anyway, I stayed one night at the Raizor (58 USD) and another night at the Hilton (110 USD plus 26% tax).

The Napolitano has a $75 USD plus 26% rate.

Hmmm, a week in November is only 55,000 points. Less than half of my current points. I also have enough voucher credit and miles with Continental that I'd only have to pay the $127 tax for round trip first class. Maybe it's time I visited the capital...
All things considered, I'd rather be fucking.

    Re: Courtyard Mariott

Just out of curiosity, has anyone stayed at the Renaissance Jaragua Hotel and Casino? I have enough points to stay there for free for the week, or I could use half the points and stay at the Courtyard. Is there enough of a difference to want to stay at the beach? Should I be worried about bringing back "guests" in either location?

If you do stay at the Jaragua make sure that you're in the two level section and not the tower. It's a lot easier to bring guests in there. It's alot closer to the action on Independencia where I like to go on my free range punani safaris. You can't beat the location. It's a shame that they're so ridiculous about having guests in the main hotel.

There's a guard at the gate to the parking lot and you can easily access the entrance to the garden level rooms without him even seeing you whereas everybody knows everything that's going up and down the elevators in the tower.

A buddy of mine (and his bi wife) stayed there last January and they (and their many "guests") loved it. The rooms in the garden level section are well appointed and very comfortable with mini fridge, Uwave, etc...

Thanks for the info. I may just go with Courtyard. When you redeem points, you don't have as much leeway in asking for specific rooms, you get what they have.

Call after you book and tell them you're claustropobic and go f'ing nuts in elevators. They will be compelled to accommodate you by scheduling you into the Garden section.

I like the Tower much better. I usually bring my own sand to the Tower.

    Oh.

    Yeah.

That works. They don't have problems with double occupancy, just puta traffic. It's okay to "wife up" at any of the Malecon "4-stars". I have noticed, however that there are select putas working out of the hotel who get a pass on this. I'm sure they're breaking security off really well which is why they're in the Casino bar asking for $200 US. I had to laugh in a bitches face when she said that. She was a "4". I had Presidente running out of my nose from laughing uncontrollably.

I love it when something that can't make $10 in HP, Bronx wants $200 in DR!

    Hey SJG

    Greydread is correct.

I stayed at the Garden last night and I will post pictures of them later tonight.

    Hey SJG

I stayed at the Jaragua two nights ago. Here is the thread.

I like the Courtyard better, its cozy and cheaper with free coffee and cookies. Plus you get a pass to the bigger Hotel if you want to swim there.
