    STI to POP

I have been waiting till I get closer to my trip to address this subject . . .

I need a ride from STI to Black Beards next month and am VERY MUCH looking forward to the drive.

you guys know my Spanish ain't for shit and the first thing we gotta do is get a box of beer for the car . . . we land at 2 in the afternoon and are hoping for some hitch hikers along the way . . .

gotta stop at the Pharmacia for some vitamin c and v and do a little snack shopping.

just chips and coke, Pepsi and water . . . that kind of stuff.

I figure the ride will cost us about 70 bucks but am looking forward to the adventure . . .

I'll probably get Black Beards to send someone for me, unless I find a more viable option.

    Any thoughts ?
    Who me ? ? ?
    nahhhh . . . move along, move along . . .

That's 140 round trip...why not just fly into POP. For the life of me I cannot understand why some mongers think it's cheaper to fly into STI to go into POP....? You're just blowing time on the road and risking your fucking life!

The idea was to get cheaper fare ($260) to fly into STI and out of POP. My problem is now the STI to Palace land trip. My flight arrives at 5:50 pm so I may be making this ride in the dark. I'm wondering if I'm better off spending a night in Santiago and making the trip in daylight or take a taxi straight to the Palace?

Dog, the bus ride is cheap... And also you can get some nice chicas the first or last night of your stay in STI... even if you take the taxi one way... its still cheaper sometimes...

You may consider flying on standby from JFK to STI...there is a 6am flight and a 11am flight and then yours at around 2pm or so...You may be able to get on a earlier flight this way....if not, just stay in santiago in one of the cabanas like horus for a cheap 1,000 pesos for the night and go out to the clubs there Passions, Illusions, and Casa Blanca....you'll enjoy it.

    Play safe.

Just take a cab to Caribe tours and get on the bus there! Great adventure!
The bus will take about 90 minutes. I think the bus goes every hour till about 9 pm. That bus is almost free. I think last time it was 80 pesos........(can this be right?? Sounds awfully cheap now?)

When i took the caribe Tours bus from charamicos to santiago in December it was 80 pesos i think. the chica was paying but I saw the cost on the tickets.
When you can think of yesterday without regret and tomorrow without fear, you are near contentment.
Your opinions are not my problem...

Why not? For someone who works a 9 to 5, you get an extra night if you take that night flight. Check out pasions and get a cabana within walking distance from the club. Fuck and take a 90 peso bus in the afternoon. It's just added adventure without changing your work schedule.

    just a fyi . . .

we saved $180.00 US + EACH to fly into STI instead of POP and look at it as an adventure . . .

I've never been to Santiago and am looking forward to the drive . . .

    a box of beer and a bunch of smokes . . . It's gonna be great . . .

I arrive at Black Beards like an hour and a half later then I would if flying into POP but get to stay 2 and a half hours later . . .

    don't be a hater ! !

(fuck the bus . . . need beer and a car)

but thank you all for the input

    Not to alarm anyone, but...

Not to alarm anyone, but a mini bus carrying employees from Breezes Hotel and Casino and Play Dorado got slammed and completely wrecked by a Caribe Tours Bus this evening...3 people dead. Those Caribe Tours buses are built like tanks...the mini bus carrying the employees was completely destroyed...no roof, no sides, just nothing left of it!

Drive safely or be watchful when you can.

They service starts at around 6am I believe. Check out there website at http://www.caribetours.com.do/

Jetblue is great, but the schedules are whacked out....but the heck with that; just land, get a taxi, and then hit the 3 clubs in Santiago for chicas and take em back to a cabana....it's that simple. Kick em out in the morning and then head into Sosua!

Jayman, I posted on another thread about a cabbie I got to take me from Santiago to POP and return for 1500 DOP. I also bought him and his wife lunch. But, apparently, I got a great deal. My novia negotiated the deal. But, she uses him all the time now, even for local routes. His name is Yran. His number is 772-5674. Tell him Jaime de Chicago gave you his number.
