    Blackberry Pearl

    Hello all,

I have a Blackberry Pearl. Last time in the POP I could not check voicemail, receive calls, or make calls. (I have web, text, etc. through Sprint Network)

I only care to be able to check my voicemail primarily so I know what calls I've had, and if it's an emergency make a call or receive one.

Does anyone know the best way to check voicemail and the other two things without changing my number in any way??? Is there some feature I need to change in Network setting to roaming or something???

Thanks for the help..feel free to PM.

Sounds like roaming was not working right. You probably need to let Sprint know your travel plans. Sprint used to default while roaming in Sosua to Orange. Not sure nowadays. This is 5 year old information so maybe someone else has more current information.

You could also rent or buy a cheap phone and check your voice mail remotely from that phone.

I have a BB Curve and it works fine on the north coast - I have the same All Data program thru Sprint. Although I don't use it a lot, just to check email and texts, but never had any issues.

I don't know if you have to do anything special, they do sell an International Coverage option so you don't pay the 2 bucks a minute or whatever it is. I think the International coverage is $5 a month.

I'm too afraid of losing it, I carry my cheap DR phone and leave the Blackbery in the safe.

Make sure your roaming setting is set to automatic and not sprint only. Sprint customer service had me do that last time and it worked....but those calls are $2/min without the international plan! And I still couldn't get on the web and stuff.
