    Canadian Emmbassy Contact Info

I did some research for my upcoming trip to the DR and thought I would share with my fellow Canucks. If you are arrested or detained for any reason, tell the officer that you want the nearest Canadian Consulate contacted imediatly. They are bound by law to call and inform them of your arrest if requested. They will not inform the Canadian Consulate unless you ask them too. If you think you are in 'big trouble' or your life is in danger and you have not been arrested, go to the Canadian Embassy in SD. This is considerd 'Canadian Soil' and you are 100% safe there. I plan to program the numbers into my cell phone once I arrive in the DR. I don't anticipate any problems while I am in the DR, but after reading a few horror stories why not be prepared.
