Delta still running the $260 special from JFK to Santiago most of May. Plenty of seats still available.

This fare lasts all the way till the 3rd week of June and then it is $300 and above out of NYC.

NYC to Santiago direct still $300. However, Delta is talking that bankruptcy shit due to fuel costs and other things. The fuel costs are killing all the airlines. For the NYC cats, we already lost POP, i hope we don't lose STI.

PoP was lost because the 500,000 Dominicans were heading to STI to begin with.

At one time, it seemed like POP was a popular, inexpensive tourist destination. It seems like it fell off with the american tourist crowd.

They go to the AI'S and get shitty service and food. Once and only once do most Americans go to the DR. They try to save a few bucks and leave feeling it was not worth it. I have been to some nice places for close to the same price as a regularly planned trip to Playa Dorado. My first time to the DR was a last minute get away to Playa Dorado for short money. Showed up and i was horrified and thought the place a shit hole. Got drunk, packed up and went to the Palace for a few nights. After spending 30 days at different places in Sosua in the next 6 months i did a last minute long weekend deal again at the Playa Dorado. After my airfare it came to $50 a night for me and a chica. I loved the place. I loved the free Presidente and local drinks and ate more than $50 worth of food a night. Rented a car and it was the best trip i have had only because i now knew the area and many people so i only ate breakfast and dinner there and went back out about 10 pm to Sosua.
Now they are pushing Punta Cana here in Boston with no specials in the Sunday paper to POP. I also see there are cruise ships that stop in Samana and La Romana is getting the nature hike type tourist. For you guys in NYC you do not know how jealous i am that on average it is $275 more for me to get to anyplace in the DR compared to you.

I like when you guys cry about $40 increases. You would think it is the end of the world.

When you get a $40 increase, I am getting a $60, so I understand the pain, but your still paying less.
