Need Help making/receiving calls with your US number

I have AT&T with I phone and am wondering how I can make calls back home so that my regular phone number will show up to those I am calling.
I have found my reception usually sucks down there and I cant call home with a dominican phone number or blocked number without raising suspicion.

I guess I can bite the bullet and pay all the exorbiant roaming charges and try to find a place with a good signal to call. Any other ideas on how I might go about this.

Magicjack is an option, you get to pick a number from your home area code and it works like a charm.

If you wanna play the " I forgot my charger", you can get a magic jack with any area code for $40. plug your phone into it and the phone# you pick out of thier availability, will show up on the caller id, + all calls are free!

What happens if they return the call on this new number?

Re: Need Help making/receiving calls with your US number

I've read on other boards that if you have an iPhone or Blackberry there is a free Vonage app that works anywhere you have wifi and calls to the US are free. It does send your cell # for caller ID. Might be worth looking into...

I have a T-mobile Blackberry with the Hotspot-to-Go service, which allows me to make calls over any open Wifi. It does as Pacoloco mentioned and will allow the use of your cell number for sending and receiving calls over wifi. It's a great service and the calls are free when using wifi.
