Re: Las Terranas trip June 2010

So chatting with Clair at the bar, having a great time, I get a tap on my shoulder. Turn round to see 2 bouncers and a gringo with his hand extended. Fully expecting some bad shit to go down, the gringo shakes my hand and simply says ‘good choice’, smiles and walks off. Turns out the gringo is the club owner and Clair’s ex-novio who just likes to fuck with any guy that she’s with. That should have been red flag 1.

Later she asked to ‘borrow’ 200 pesos and disappeared outside, came back a few minutes later and was exceptionally passionate, couldn’t stop talking and laughing. The thought crossed my mind that she had just powdered her nose with some Colombian marching powder. That should have been red flag 2.

Ended up back at the apt, put some sounds on and spent a couple of hours just getting down and dirty. She was rambling on as only a coke or speed freak can do and then had a funny 5 minutes when she accused me of giving my TLN from the night before RD$3,000, saying that she knew everything I did with her amiga. All bullshit of course but that should have been red flag 3.

By now it was daylight and I went for a piss and returned to find her going through the pockets of my jeans. WTF!!!!!!!!!

I calmly asked what the fuck she thought was doing, and she immediately burst into tears claiming that she wasn’t a ladrona and wasn’t thinking straight. Yeah right.

So the dilemma I had was should I just give her a hefty slap and kick her ass out or remain calm.

Security at the apt hadn’t taken cedula or anything, didn’t even know she was there, so if I just kicked her out I felt that she would return with the police and claim I abused her or something, but at this point I just wanted her gone.

So I sat her down and gently explained that such a beautiful girl has no need to steal and that after giving me a BBBJ she should go and we would get together again the next day.

She duly obliged and I walked her out promising to meet up later.

As we were heading back later that afternoon I knew that was a promise that I wouldn’t keep.

So anyone that still wants her digits, PM me lol!!!

Re: Las Terranas trip June 2010

Just to wrap up, having read a couple of reports recently where guys are saying they are bored with Sosua, LT is a great change of pace from the normal Sosua bla bla bla. Highly recommend it for a couple of nights.

Booze, food and chica costs are about the same, right now the chicas are hungry for gringos. Although as LT is predominantly French/Italian this may change in Euro high season of July/August.

Oh yes there is good fishing too. Next time!!!!

Re: Las Terranas trip June 2010

Nice story. I was wondering what the action was like in Las Terranas. Last month I gave this chick I met in Cabarete a ride home there. That drive, especially up the mountain was a drain. If I knew what I was getting into I would not have gone but "little head" was doing all the thinking.

She showed me the city and the beach areas/bars. She reported that few Americans visit there and it was mainly Europeans(Italiana and Germans). I got the since there was lots of action and she said there was although pretended not to be interested in such things.

I think if I do go I will check out the place you stayed and probably fly directly if possible o take the Caribe tours bus.

    Thanks for sharing.

That was nice of you, did you know it was a 2-3 hour ride beforehand?

She said two to three hours but ended up more like 3.5 as it started raining and the mountain road was all f'ed up due to the construction. Worth it to see new territory.

Yeah it's a pretty cool journey, great scenery.

The road from Cabarete to the Sanchez/LT turn-off is newly paved and can be done in less than 2 hours. The mountain road construction is currently halted (hence the huelga on my visit) but still only takes 30 minutes.

I am told that they are planning/constructing a new link road from Nagua area direct to LT along the coastline, that would be really cool when or if it gets done!!

Wow, they finally fixed it? I did that trip 4 times a week for two years when I was doing the luxury villa in Cabrera.

I had every pothole memorized.(and that's a lot of potholes!)

Yes before it was a suspension killer but now a pleasure. Local taxi guys tell me, along with the Nagua-SDQ highway, it's taken 1 - 1.5 hours off the SDQ airport run.

Great report! It's nice to hear about other little towns in DR. Thanks.

That riot sounded pretty scary though.

This girl used to be RearWindow's avatar back in 2004. She is originally from Boca Chica where I've spotted her a number of times (unfortunately always in company of my SO).. her real name is indeed Ana.

The bridge before and the pavement coming into Rio San Juan isn't fixed as yet. They have large strechtes of new pavement true but it's not entirely fixed

Re: Las Terranas trip June 2010

thanks for the report on las terrenas. I went there something like 8 or 9 years ago (yikes!) just for a weekend, stayed on Playa Bonita. Was a sleepy little place then, but I admit once night fell I didn't really venture anywhere. Playa Bonita was one of the nicest beaches I had ever seen, but I did get bored with the peace and tranquility after 3 days.

Good to hear the place has a nightlife, it may change my vacation destination in the future.
