The executive director of the National Tobacco Institute (Intabaco), Adalberto Rosa will be leaving the post in August to become a deputy for the PLD representing Santiago. He says he is proud of what he has achieved during his six-year term at Intabaco. According to Rosa, premium cigar and hand-rolled cigar exports have gradually increased over the past six years. He recalled how cigar exports in 2004 stood at around 455.3 million cigars, increasing to 514.5 million in 2005. By 2008, exports were at 719.8 million and in 2009 these totaled 759.9 million cigars for US$391.8 million in exports. Intabaco celebrates its 48th anniversary on 15 June.
