If I get less that 5 good years here I will feel cheated, but you never know.

I had a severe pain in my solar plexus for 36 hours this week then it stopped as suddenly as it started. It frightened me because I don't want an operation in this shithole country.

I also have a constant pain in the ass, but I can easily get rid of that by paying some Haitians I know to make Robert13212 disappear.

Do you plan on getting burried there? What is the cost of that?

No idea but it won't be my problem. I wouldn't mind serving some ecologically useful purpose after my death like being fed to the pigs. Less harmful to the environment that being carted around in the blazing sun on the back of an open pick-up like the standard funeral here.

I moved this here, I do not think this banter is appropriate on the other thread.

But on topic Maybe you would prefer a cremation Weyland and we spread your ashes on the malecon?

I never realised you were that tactful, Kevy, but, in all seriousness, you are right to have done so. Many thanks.

Neither did I, but I wanted to respond and remembered the origin of the thread and didn't feel right about it.

I feel bad for it, but I did laugh at that comment

2 or 3 years ago a cremation ran about RD$50,000.

Funereria Blandino (www.funerariablandino.com.do) is the biggest funeral home in the country.

I guess living down here for a year is making me insensitive to death. Not a month goes by without hearing of some acquaintance or friend of a friend who has died some avoidable death.

Only last week I learned the brother of my first favorita down here was assaulted so badly he is now a vegetable. His fellow cop was killed. I know cops get a bad rep here but he seems to have been very respected and trusted in his community. The two of them were trying to arrest a gang of five who had been terrorizing the barrio for months. I guess the odds were against them or the guys were so drugged-up they got reckless.

I pledge 1,000 pesos for Weyland.

Unless my guess is incorrect I think your stash would make a wonderful funeral

Would you like me to pay for it and keep the difference?

I don't mean how much per month, I meant only 3 years of getting it. My dad has been getting it for 26 years now.

The guy is dead, no point in kicking him when he is down, it isn't a competition.

I made a statement, nothing more. I never met the guy, I think.

In the book "In search of the perfect whore" (set in Puerto Plata) which has been twice reviewed here ...
    http://news.insearchofchicas.org/for...search+perfect
    http://news.insearchofchicas.org/for...ad.php?t=84987
... there is a hilarious account of some ex-pats dumping their deceased friend out at sea, complete with gritadora. I am sure you could arrange this for a lot less than RD$50,000 and you might have as much fun as they did.
