    Car wash?

Yeah, newbie question I'm sure ... I've seen the term but I don't get it.

Obviously, by its context on here, it has little to do with scrubbing the road grime off of my Volkswagen. Or maybe it does - but there's this other business going on, too ...

Would some kind soul who's in the know deign to enlighten me on the subject?

Years ago i think they were more popular but maybe we just talk about them less now. The car washes have bars and people hang out there. Loud music and dancing with putas and regular girls too. Its a very social setting and Ive been to a few in Santiago a few years back and there were a lot of girls. I got 3 numbers in a couple hours and i barely spoke any spanish then. They have places set up similar but instead of a car wash they have a big swimmimng pool, these places are a bit more family oriented.

    Re: Car wash?

Hugrad, Swiggy - thanks for your help.

It's very gringo of me, I suppose, to view a "car wash" as no more than a place to get your car washed. I can see how it might have evolved into a social venue, though; maybe from drivers and their novias hanging out and shooting the breeze, to someone bringing a cooler of Presidentes and making more of a stand, to perhaps the owner deciding "as long as they're here, I might as well be selling the Presidentes, and put in a stereo so we don't have five different car radios blaring and competing for attention...."

Hey, any excuse for a party.

    Thanks again.
