    Thats just being paranoid.

When was the last time, if ever, that there was a credible account of a taxi guy ripping off a gringo like that. Scamming you for a couple of bucks perhaps but purposely heading in the wrong direction...wtf for? Robbery...pretty much does not happen.

I've been going to the consistently for 7 years and have never heard of one nor does anyone I know.

    Is debate class over yet?
When you can think of yesterday without regret and tomorrow without fear, you are near contentment.
Your opinions are not my problem...

While shit does happen it's the gross exception and far from the rule.
(And you seem be arguing both sides of this )
Why are you trying to make it sound like getting from STI to Sosua is akin to travelling through FARC territory in Colombia?
(Cause almost anyone knows it's not even close!)

Its Farc, not Fark, thank you and there is no more Farc area in Colombia, cause they are mostly all dead.

I find his paranoia amusing. "taking a taxi is dangerous, so my advice to you is: take a taxi"

I have a feeling he's only fucking with us.

It's FARC, with a C. But even misspelled, that was still pretty funny.

...and this from the guy that could not even spell Colombia correctly until after his 3rd trip!

(Don't even get me started about your misspellings of Thailand! )

It's been posted..but its around $10. The problem is that there's no bus that early..
    taxi STI to Carib/Metro tours (same block) was 500 pesos, in English. Did not know I speak Spanish until after he quoted price;

Bus to Sosua is 160 pesos...

    OR

Any available taxi quoted $80 flat rate.

It was very different in Santiago, didn't seem to have the price negotiations one has in Puerto Plata... YMMV
Colombianas are God's way of apologizing for Dominicanas

I thought it was an innocent question. Thought it would be cool to share a cab with someone with a little local knowledge...pick his brain and save a few pesos.

Some of you guys need to check your medication or up the doseage. Thanks to all who helped a newbie out.

Made reservations at the Casa Cayena, $50/night. Terra Linda wants 80/night. NG never responded to my email. Anyone stayed there recently? Ooops, probably shouldn't have asked another question...
