Ex-Pats Arrested in Sosua Child Prostitution

Ring Members of the National Department of Investigations (DNI) and judicial authorities have dismantled an internet child prostitution ring which was operating in Sosua. According to police information the ring was run by a German, Hans Dieter Mertes, in El Batey and a Russian, Leonid Poloki, in Costa Azul. Both men were arrested and 4 computers with 14,000 photographs of nude and semi-naked children were confiscated. According to Clave Digital, the children were to be 'sold' to visiting tourists. Apparently, this 'business' had been going on for several years and the proceeds were millions of pesos. According to El Nacional, the Russian is a Ukranian & the ring operated under the name of the Dominican Model Company. Authorities had been investigating for several months. In the last few months a number of foreigners have been arrested and repatriated because of their links with under age prostitution. You would think they would do hard time, not just be repatriated.

FYI I love the guilty until proven innocent but it turns out this was a bunch of bullshit :bullshit:

The newspapers are wrong.
There were photos posted in newspapers of girls supposedly from these sites saying they were children and one is known personally...not only is not a hooker or prostitute, is getting married and is 25 years of age. Some child! I understand she is going to try sue the newspapers.
The only children shown on those sites are in the Domincan Models section and they are available for industry use...for advertising of products such as clothing lines, hair products etc. and we know the mother of those children and they have never been photographed nude and they are never out of her sight.
Shame on your speculations when the persons involved were released the same day and only this week are to appear in court AFTER the computers are examined which they had not been at time the newspaper articles were released.
I am now very sceptical and maybe disappointed about other articles we have been reading that make it look like the authorites are doing such a good job probably becasue the papers are desperate for stories to make sales.

PS. Who here remembers the Witch Hunts of the late 80s with the day care centers, Yes let's protect our children but not throw out our basic rights to do so!

If they did it there is no torture nasty enough for them however you might want to investigate further before getting the lynchmob together.

I realize the DR still works with Napoleonic code based laws BUT where I come from they're innocent until proven guilty. It also seems really easy to accuse someone in the DR without basis in fact and have the police overreact.

Tourist Arrest for Child Porn

El Nacional is reporting that 68 year old German tourist Wolfgang Ottmar Joseph was arrested yesterday in a penthouse in Vista Mar, Sosua. Captain Nelson Abreu of the DNI and assistant Fiscal Rafael Merete found Joseph with various female children - he was getting them to pose nude and was taking pictures and also had videos. Joseph said he was a teacher. Authorities confiscated a photo album of pictures of 50 naked children, families of whom live in El Tablon, La Cienaga, La Piedra, Madre Vieja, Los Charamicos and other parts of Sosua. Authorities said the German tourist offered the children money to go to his penthouse and when there they were asked to pose naked. Read more in Spanish in El Nacional.
