    07/2007 - Continental/United Deals to the DR.

Bought by ticket a month ago for a September trip (hey like to budget stuff and get it taken care of early)

Paid 407 direct flight (but had a travel gift certificate from Continental for 200 bucks)...

Well a monger on this site advised us to use Yapta.com, which i use to track flight prices, those tickets are now 295 (Taxes and fees included)!

Called continental, told them what happened, and they gave me a travel certificate for $110!!! They also charged me $30 change fee...

    Just saved $80 dollars FYI....

    FYI

We posted a couple of weeks ago that all airlines flying into DR from NYC area was running $295. American jump started it off and rest had to match.

I just bought three (3) Newark to Puerto Plata (EWR-POP) round trip tickets for $295 each (taxes included) on Continental.
It's a great price, but it looks like it's only available for travel on certain days (mostly Wednesdays)......but hey, I'm flexible!

They do that every year. The good news is that the few days they fly, the prices are lower than the peak season. Also, they still have daily flights to Santiago.

    Yep.....I love those "sales"!

I now "own" five RT tickets. Four to the DR (I have my trips covered through August), and one for a springtime visit to Europe.

BigDave, can you sign up for these fare alerts on Continental? I usually fly Continental from PVD to POP, but I'm going to start looking into flying out of EWR. Even if I stay in EWR overnight, it's still cheaper, and I can arrive home on the return a few hours ahead of time if I do the EWR route. Thanks.

Hopefully the other airlines will follow. I love airfare wars.

Re: Low Airfare Alert EWR-POP- Continental

The best EWR to POP alerts I know of come from farecompare.com. Eriks posted this a while back and I signed up for it. It send emails a few hours before they start usually. Great site.

If you have to drive a long distance to EWR you might want to try the sleep and park deals they have for like $150 you get 1 night in a hotel and a week of parking. Either drive to the airport and park and sleep overnight the night before or the night you come home. Probably better to do it the night you come home so you can relax 1 last night after a long week of partying.
    Jimmy owes me a dollar!

Re: Low Airfare Alert EWR-POP- Continental

I booked a May trip on Continental from ORD to EWR and EWR to POP for 450tx/inc. The best price I've seen from Chicago!!! A 7:40pm departure arriving at 11:00pm and an 8:00am flight out. I have to do an overnight but I get free nights with Starwood points, so not a problem. Return flights have good same day conections.

    It's actually, http://yapta.com/

They'll e-mail you every time there's a price change lower than what you started with on your itinerary.
