For any newbies that haven't yet experienced the strip in Sosua, I just saw a 5 minute video that did a nice job of capturing the flavor.
Lots of familiar faces, and scenes:
For guys who have been there, the more you already know about Sosua, the more you will see.

Ah, the good 'ol days, when women could walk unfettered down the street...
I recognize quite a few chicas, and at 2:31, the girl in the black micro shorts going over to talk to a girl sitting in Latinos (her sister) was one of the best-looking chicas I ever poked in the DR...she was one of my steadies for a couple of trips....last I heard she married a gringo...not sure of "the marriage arrangements."
One of my Dominican friends said he saw her in Classicos hooking again, not too long ago....I guess "once a puta, always a puta" could apply in this case...

Yes those were the good olde days. Vicki the blondie can be seen around frame 40 seconds.
Wonder if she stuck around after the crackdown. Bet a lot of those Chicas in the Video are no longer in Sosua.

I just realized the guy doing the magic stuff, i sat across from him in July at the JFK gate prior to boarding the fligt to POP.. Wonder if he is a member here .It is a Small world. Lot of familiar faces in the video for sure.

I saw her around a few times back in Nov/Dec.
That guy that does the magic trick (he's in a wheelchair), I see him all over town when I'm there. I think he's German. Usually see him at Jolly Rogers or the Hideaway. And I believe he's a permanent resident in Sosua.

Loved to grab a stool outside El Flow and drink a Presidente while watching the parade pass back and forth. Made for some nice late afternoons and evenings.
I imagine that things are a bit different now? With the police crackdowns and the barrier at Latinos, is the freelancing atmosphere along the sidewalk pretty tame nowadays?

Vicki doesn't change much. I've known her for 10 yrs, and she still looks pretty much the same.

Yes it's a fair job of capturing the flavor on a quiet night when the strip was muy loco last year.
However it is seriously misleading dude for any newbie that may use this video as an expectation basis for a trip.
The STREET scene on the strip ain't nothing like that right now.

I guess you are right Willie, especially if things don't change back.
In that case, it is something for the time capsule or history books. But there are the elements there that are distinctly Sosua (or DR) as opposed to other mongering destinations, and as others have said, you will still find all that you are looking for if you know where and how to look.
I hope that is true.
For me, it's not just about hundreds of girls grabbing you on the street, it is the faces and the personalities. The street food, the gestures the girls make as they sing along with the bachatas, the magician with a mohawk wearing a suit and swallowing nails for the tourists, the European women dancing with their sankies, the tourist guys interacting with the chicas with their various, distinct mongering styles. Things that strike me as the essence of Sosua. Maybe it's not as amplified now, but part of every day life there.
As I said, the more you know the more you will see.
I think it was Shakespeare who said, you can try and take Sosua from the putas, but you can't take the puta from Sosua.
I hope to go back this spring and see for myself. Happy travels my ISOC amigos.

I was there over the New Year holiday and like Revolution says, you can find what you're looking for. The scene on the strip is still lively, just a little more tame. I still had the time of my life and can't wait to make another trip down asap.

There are a lot less hatians in the area. Besides that, there are still many chicas to choose from. From young to old. I was just there January 23.... Had the time of my life there... Got many good photos and videos of some of the chicas there.

That video was taken in March 2010.
Things have changed in Sosua since then.
The street parade no longer exists and Latinos (Sosua Life bar) is a shell of it's former self.
But yeah, the game is still on. It is just a little more laid back now!
