    Warning File Upload Center/VBImageHost/Albums

File Upload Center is working again and all options for hosting files can be found under the tab "File Uploads".

Please note the BBCode is different for each upload depending on the file extension, there isn't an all in one solution anymore.

    Just a reminder:
File Upload Center = Movies, PDFs, etc. (Everything except pics)
VB Image Host = Archive only
    Albums = All Pictures

    DT

I have found out how to create albums and upload pics to them, where they appear as thumbnails on a grey rectangular background with the filename of the picture superimposed.

Is there a guide on the site explaining what to do from then on? My advisors are telling me that if I click on these thumbnails they will enlarge and I will see (somewhere) a URL for the pic which I can then paste into my post. But this is not happening for me. When clicked, the thumbnail shuffles its position but remains as a thumbnail and I cannot see its URL anywhere. What am I doing wrong?

    1. Well you are clicking on the Album which has a picture associated with it. (one fo the pictures in the album)
    2. Then you open the album and see thumbnails of the pics in that album.
    3. Then when you click the thumbnail of one of those pics you should see "BB Code" which is what you post in the post.

Sounds like you stopped at step 2.

So what happens to the videos that are already in the threads? Are they all wiped out?

All the videos you uploaded before are still there. The BBCode in the post could be wrong though, a simple edit will work.

Flash/SWF = [media] (which was the old all in one tag)
All other types of videos = [WMP]
    PDFs = [pdf]
File we can't handle yet are set as [URL] so people can right click and download, stuff like Zip files or Real Media files.

No, what I was doing wrong was clicking on the thumbnail in the File Upload Window and failing to transfer it to my album first. I hope you like my cows! Seems a load of hassle compared with the old system but I suppose I will get used to it, and being able to sort pictures into albums will be useful if I want to re-use an old picture instead of having to look back through 40 pages of pictures to find it.

Next question: How to delete unwanted albums? I have a couple of "test" ones I don't need but cannot see how to delete them.

Easy when you open the album, click on EDIT ALBUM and the delete Album is an option there.

The second part of your sentence makes up for the extra clicks.

I don't know what any of this means.

For example, can you see the video in the first post of this thread? Is it working? If not, what specific changes need to be made?

    Re: File Upload Center/VBImageHost/Albums

Thanks for this thread. I was used to the old system and am learning the new system. Fortunately, I found success. In fact, I started a new thread, "Yummy Tummies", as an experiment to see if I was getting the hang of the new photo upload system. Fortunately, that's turned out to be an enjoyable thread. Learning curves are sometimes not much fun, but do teach patience and perseverance. So thanks, DT, for some further insight.

It was a WMV file, probably most of yours are WMVs.

The old way it looked like:
    [media]http://news.insearchofchicas.org/forum/uploaded/4209/1171457772.wmv[/media]

    I changed it to:
    [wmp]http://news.insearchofchicas.org/forum/uploaded/4209/1171457772.wmv[/wmp]

Had it been a Flash(FLV) or ShockwaveFlashSWF file it would have worked with [media] tags.

You can see the raw BBCode tags by editing and then hitting the A/A in the upper right corner of the edit box. (Switch Editor Mode) Don't hit the other one on the left that looks similar except it has a red X.

Sorry DT.......I quess I am a dummy. I found out how to make a new alblum, but I just can't figure out how to add a pic to it from my existing ISOC pics. I've tried many times for a bit and gave up and now I have trying for the last couple hours. It may have covered in other posts, but I am having trouble searching the new board.

    Thanks!

    I misread....

Basically if you want to move a picture from the old VB Image Host to Albums, you need to download (Right Click > Save Image 4As) when viewing the full size picture in VB Image Host and then Upload it into Albums.

If you mean by "existing ISOC pics" those uploaded under the previous VBHost system, then I have just worked out, with DT's help, how to paste them directly into my post:

I have still to work out how to copy or transfer them to my new albums for possible future use.

VBHost works the same way it always did, except no more upload.

"File Upload" > "VB Image Hosting" > "My Images".
    http://news.insearchofchicas.org/for...hp?do=myimages

BBCode is either at the top of the thumbnail, or click the thumbnail for full view and BBCode is at the bottom.

OK, I have found how to enlarge the pic found as above and paste the code into my post (see previous post). My previous mistake was that I was pasting in the file-name between URL tags whereas I am now using the file-name within IMG tags. The latter method ensures the pic is posted full-size directly without having to click on its thumbnail.

Are you saying that you save it back onto your local drive then upload it from there? What a load of hassle. Easier for me to upload the image from its original folder on my local drive, although I appreciate many guys may not be able to access all their pictures on their local drive and only have them stored in VBHost.
