Must be the lack of hydration from all the leches, and the Presidente's!

As your coming into Puerto Plata from Santiago it goes, Cofresi, Costambar (BB's), Puerto Plata. As your coming out of Puerto Plata, WB's is about 5 minutes out of town on the right. Then about 20 to 25 minutes to Sosua.

    Introducing - Leosian

Greetings, just joined the site a couple of days ago (didn't know it existed until then).

I've been to the DR twice since 2007, first to Boca Chica and then to Puerto Plata. Most of the information I have from my previous trips is no longer up to date so I don't plan on filing a report on them. I am currently working to schedule my next trip within the next month or two to Sousa, and will make sure to take note of all the great details.

I want to go ahead and thank everyone for all of the information on the boards, I've learned more in the last few days than in my previous years, and look forward to hopefully running into some of you during my adventures.

    -Leo

    Welcome to the board, Leosian.

Make sure you start a new thread just before you arrive in the DR, giving your arrival date (though maybe better not your leaving date) and where you are staying, and you will meet up with some of the guys. There is always someone around with whom to share a drink and some good stories.

Where did you stay in Puerto Plata? As a Pto Pta resident I am just interested.

    Re: Introducing - Leosian

    Thanks, good advice.

In Boca Chica I stayed at Adult Vacation Getaway, it was a nice stay but was overpriced and I found out afterwards that some of the staff could not be trusted. Duerte street was definitely an adventure.

In Puerto Plata I stayed at Blackbeard's, which I have to say is definitely 'point and shoot' but the distance from everything, combined with what I considered a lack of choice in chicas kind of let me down. Their Jacuzzi is by far the best I have ever seen.

    Hello everyone!

I travel to the DR several times per year. I usually stay for about a month at a time. I have stayed in every major town except Boca Chica. Just finished up Sosua for 3 weeks and now I am headed to Santiago.

VPCHILL here, I thought I posted a Hello thread previously but I cannot find it.

Anywho, I used to consider myself a Vet of DR. Having been to Sosua and Santo Domingo a total of around 15 times. Ive stayed in the barrio as well as villas and hotels. Hung out with the locals and the fine chicas.

This site is amazing, I see as much as I thought I knew... I know nothing. lol. I have met alot of good dudes in my various trips and look forward to meeting more. Wish I knew about this site a year ago.

    Thanx for welcoming me.

    Hey everyone!

Just registered and look forward to reading the forums and learning. I have traveled to DR, CR, Aruba and Bogota but still consider myself a rookie.

    Hi guys. Quick question.
I leave Sosua in a couple days.

Lady in my hotel said that I can't have in my carry-on in POP airport an unbrellas, liquids and CABLES.
I have a mobile phones charges, laptop power adapter, kindle cable etc.

Umbrella may or may not get by. They're weird about umbrellas @ POP- but seem to be more likely to take them when you're arriving than departing.
liquids... TSA rule is nothing over (iirc) 3.5oz but no idea what the rules are @ POP. If it's booze you wanna take - you can buy at duty free and carry on.

Cables... That's just silly. My laptop bag & carryon are both loaded with cables and never had an issue.

I can confirm that they dont want umbrellas in carry on bags... They made me put my umbrella in my checked suitcase this past trip, about a month ago... If you dont have any suitcases to check, you may want to try and buy yourself a bag with a zipper in DR and make that your checked suitcase... If not, say goodbye to umbrella and liquid bottles over 3 ounces... I didn't have a problem with my blackberry and ipad charger in my carry on...

    Hi guys.

And if anyone can chine in his 2 cents worth of advice - we'll appreciate it very much!

    Thanks,
