Hotel Los Jardines versus Hotel Platino

During my last visit, I spent a night at Hotel Los Jardines and give it a favorable rating based upon value. However, I am not opposed at trying Hotel Platino during my next scheduled visit. Is there anyone who can provide any information of substance regarding Hotel Platino. If you are able to give a comparison of the two it would be greatly appreciated. For the record, I am aware of the fact that many stay at the Matum. However, based upon value, I am not sure that it is the best value. Any information is greatly appreciated!

I like hotel platino alot. Ive stayed several times. payed around 50 us. Never had a problem bringing in a girl. Several times i had two at once. but one checked in with me. Rooms are very clean but small. Next to it, if you take a right, there is a small plaza. Decent size pharmacy supermarket . It has a bar and a pool hall/bar upstairs. Ive done very well in the bar/pool hall. ive had breakfast at a restaraunt right below platino. it was a nice little spot. Also its very close to the monument and autopista.

    Tgunz:

Thanks for your input! I believe I will spend the night of my arrival at Los Jardines since it is relatively close to the airport, down the street and around the corner from the Gran Almirante Hotel & Casino and also minutes from the Metro Station. After spending several days in "The Sewpit" I will return to STI and stay at the Platino for two nights as this should allow me to walk around the monument area and become better acquainted with STI.

Based upon your description of the rooms, it sounds equivalent to Los Jardines. However, Los Jardines does include breakfast for 2 people (priced at 2000 pesos). I have one more question. How's the hot water at Hotel Platino?

Re: Hotel Los Jardines versus Hotel Platino

    I've stayed in both.
Platino twice, and Los Jardines 3 times.

I prefer Los Jardines, it's my default spot when in STI.

Los Jardines is a little bit nicer hotel, with better ambiance in a decent neighborhood.
However...Platino has some property/grounds/grass to walk chill...

Platino is in a complex set back off Estrella Sadhala.
There's no neighborhood, but you are right across the street from the University.
The avg room at Platino is definitely bigger, but it's luck of the draw. For the same price..you might get a great room, or a shitty room.

I like a lot of natural light..I like bright sunny rooms..
All of the Platinos rooms (6 between me and friends) I've seen have been dark.

Los Jardines is noisier..most windows are close to the street, so you hear motos going back and forth.
Rooms are definitely small...not like a euro hotel/closet..but still small for the basic room.
Although the rooms are different, they are consistent in their pricing for similar sizes.
I always upgrade to the level just above basic.

Distance to Monument area is a wash for both.

Both are girl friendly. Don't recall if Platino asks for the girls ID, but Los Jardines does not.

Platino has a disco next door, that gets crowded late on the weekends,
Platino is maybe 50 yards from 2 all night food spots.

Los Jardines is walking distance to many, many spots...
but don't think you can eat late around there without a car..

    Hope this helps..

Re: Hotel Los Jardines versus Hotel Platino

Unfortunately I dont remember the water. However,I want to state, I had a room with out a window several times. I dont mind it bc no noise or light, generally I am hung over. but I could see some people hating it. Ive never had them check an Id for the girls.

Now I think I want to try Los Jardines.. for comparison sakes.

My last two trips Ive stayed at alberto suites. It reminds me of a bigger don antonio with out a pool and bigger kitchen area. Its a thousand pesos. Then at night I go to a cabana for a more upscale feel.

    MrBlack:

What's good my brother? Thanks for the "intel". I was confident you amongst others would be able to chime in and provide information that would be both useful and helpful. As I indicated earlier in the thread, I will probably spend the first night at Los Jardines and 2 nights at Platino (after returning from a 4 day rendevous elsewhere). Since I will spend my time in STI without other members of the "crew" I believe using Platino as "Ground Zero" will allow me to walk around and become semi-acclimated to the city. I don't really need/plan to be in search of chicas as I already have at least 10 STI residents listed on my spreadsheet (and I do interact with many of them via F/B).

Let me apologize (my brother) for not including you in a recent get together (Washington Heights). D/D and Daddy were in town so we used this as an occasion to break bread, shoot the shyt, look at photos, etc. As a matter of fact, several of the bredren paid a cameo visit to Sunrise. Kudos to various member of PPC (B319, B/A, Trib) who all came together to enjoy the festive occasion.
