if you are at least Gold on United you will be comp upgraded .
Out of every flight I have made to POP, it was always comp upgraded to business
And so was anyone that flew with me. Free upgrades as well.

I have never flown coach to POP out of MANY trips and never have paid for a Business class ticket
But its a 3hour 10 minute flight, so its not a big deal. Food sucks going:breakfast
and its no big deal coming home. No sundae cart!!!

Drinks are whatever they normally serve on the plane, but free. Along with champagne, and wine with your meal.

I've flown first class (that's business class from MIA to POP. same thing) three times. All my meals have been great! And, I get to try things I would never order in a restaraunt.

This last trip, this was breakfast from Detroit to Miami.

It was a cheese omelette with cheesy potatoes, fresh fruit and a bagel w/ cream cheese.

This was lunch from Miami to POP.

It was stuffed shells, with a salad. And the cheesecake is kick ass!

Thank you sir for those pics. it gives me an excellent idea of what to expect. It looks worth while to be up front with that type of service. Also free drinks!!! Yes indeed that is great!!!

Re: United fares to the DR

I am looking for end of the year xmas/ny to POP and United comes with better pricing, however from YYZ it means a connecting flight, a long layover or driving there. Anyone with experience please share some words on EWR airport experience, parking there, luggage allowance, long layovers etc. Appreciate any other cost saving ideas flying to DR around xmas and back first week of 2013.

If you are flying out of YYZ, "Toronto", to POP why are you not trying WestJet? Westjet.com, almost daily flights to and from POP direct in about 4 hours.

I use to fly CO/United... EWR stayover...all too much hassle and headache... that was then...now Westjet is the way to go out of YYZ.

this year i did the yyz/ewr/pop flight twice and it was good.
i used my ff miles and it was basically the only flight i could get with my 4 to 5 day schedule though

the yyz to ewr is just a short hop on a small plane with very limited overhead storage. i did carryon and i had to take my lap top and a couple things out to sqeeze it into the overhead.

being super elite i was ok with the layover and it was only 90 minutes or so.
enough time to hit duty free and get a couple crown royal black and then hit the united lounge for breakfast and open the bar

i use miles on holidays due to the much higher costs with most air lines
oh ya and the cost was a lot less going united than air canada, (141$ plus miles)
you only live once, but if you live it right once is enough
