Hotel Danae

Located on calle Danae in Gazcue.
In some ways it is better than Hotel Residencia up the road that I also stayed at. It cost me the same amount as Residencia. 900 pesos per night. Which is about $27 dollars. The room itself was not as nice and no lock box provided in the rooms. Which I dont really like, but you just have to be sharp when you have guests over. The hotel itself is safe and you dont have to worry about your room being broken into. The water pressure and the hot water has to be the best in the Dominican Republic! I rate this hotel as the best shower in DR! If taking a great shower is top on your list then that should be the reason to stay here! The daytime hotel staff is the best out of any hotel that I have ever stayed at or visited in the DR! They are so nice, polite, helpful and they speak perfect english! I had great conversations with them. I enjoy a good conversation and a good cup of cafe con leche. So many of the same things apply here as at the Residencia. Close to walk to everything in addition to which I did not say in my residencia reveiw the Colonial district and the conde! At Hotel Dane they also do not have an i.d. check policy which I like. O.K. heres something extra that I will share, if you take a short taxi ride from the hotel to the autobus to Boca Chica. The taxi will cost 200-250 pesos. The express bus to Boca Chica will cost 40 pesos.
The bus ride is like a party with the salsa music playing and it only takes about 45 minutes and then you are on a beautiful beach! If you want to cook a meal at hotel Danae you can in the community kitchen. There is a supermarket a few blocks from the hotel. Also out the hotel to the right and down the block is a bodega. Past the bodega and make left at the corner is an internet cafe and continue up the avenue is a cambio, continue up the avenue a short 10 minute walk and you are in the beautiful colonial district. I strongly recomend this hotel over Residencia!

Hmmm. . .I usually found the rooms at danae a bit better than residencia but have not stayed at either in several months. Danae does have phones in each room as well which is a plus. Though residencia has wifi internet.
