    Re: 06/2012 - Global entry

So when I came through Global Entry in Miami yesterday they had made some changes to the process.

The first thing you do when you step up to kiosk is you take your picture.

Kinda cool since I was ready for it and not looking down like normal

The next thing I new it was printing my exit receipt and I could head for the attendant to exit.

I never even scanned my passport or answered any questions.

The whole process took about 30 seconds from entry to exit. Very fast.

    I was kinda dumbfounded.

5 days ago when I also came through Miami they did the picture thing but I still had to answer some questions.

I had my passport in the machine that time but now I am not sure it was even scanned.

When I renewed a year ago they said I had to do an interview again but they now allow you to do them at certain airports so when I was coming back from Asia to DFW I went into a separate line at immigration dedicated for renewals.

All I had to do was scan was fingerprints again but they didn't even ask me any questions.

The final approval email hit before I boarded my flight and they processed the new card right at that airport. I had it in the mail within a couple of days

    Re: 06/2012 - Global entry

When I came through Miami a couple weeks ago they took my picture first thing at the kiosk

Apparently they have facial recognition technology now because I didn't even have to scan my passport it just spit out the exit slip.

    Very efficient.

    Re: 06/2012 - Global entry

came through Ft Lauderdale on Thursday and used the Mobile Passport again.........though it has been awhile
saved mi about an hour of standing in line......If I was to use the Global Entry........it would be only around 2-3 times a year
still debating if it's worth it since I got through customs faster than the Global Entry people on Thursday.........
there are a lot more people using Global Entry these days..........not so with Mobile Passport

    Re: 06/2012 - Global entry

Maybe in ft lauderdale but global entry will always be faster in Miami since they route you to the front of the line and global entry passengers go through before all others

They don’t even scan your passport anymore at the kiosk it is all done with facial recognition. Pretty efficient

for me i will keep using global entry. Plus tsa pre check is always where the real time savings happens in most airports

Global Entry still has one big advantage -- it gets you into the TSA Precheck system, which is a fast-track through US airports' Security.

    Re: 06/2012 - Global entry

Where global entry can save you is after you get your bags and exit customs...sometimes huge line there...global entry has dedicated line....that has saved me time....

one out of every 10 times entry GE can save you at kiosks...most times you really dont save....but that 1 is worth it..
