    Alex,
The ISOC site has been bashing most of the Boca Chica hotels. I am looking at Hotel Garant for my next Boca Chica trip (possibly next spring). 809-523-5544. The address is 9 Calle Sanchez (North-South street). It is between Avenue 20 Decembre and Avenue San Rafael. economy room $40 USD per night.

    http://www.hotelgarant.com/pricing.html

Chica friendly. Owner Mathieu Garant. 1-1/2 blocks north of the strip. 2 blocks north of the beach.

    Good reviewed on trip advisor.

Never been there but at least it's an option.

    Sincerely,
    Jim

That's Mathieu Garant, of Garant tools fame, BTW. Great guy, but he doesn't put up with any shit.

Easily the cleanest hotel in Boca Chica.

How can I put this? He's not a huge fan of your typical monger.

He is not an outgoing person. Very serious and somber. He will not put up with loud, "frat type" behavior from guys.

Definitely not a "party" hotel, but it is (or was) guest friendly.

Because of the way he is, he is often labeled as not "liking" Americans.

I used to eat breakfast there almost every weekend and we always got along just fine.

He has on his home page: Client's guests are allowed in the Hotel property as long as they are 18 years old or more. For security reasons, these guests must leave their identification card with the Hotel Manager

    Sounds very reasonable to me.
