I've been seeing more photos from 7 noches from Bonao Clubs.. Has any one taken any road trip there? This one is from the Cononut club

My neighbor's family is in Bonao and visits there. I may ask her about this club. We're on decent speaking terms now, pero ella es muy celosa porque se vi otra mujer visitando ayer. No importa.

The rivalry between Bonao and La Vega is legendary.

Whichever town you're in, they'll tell you they have the most beautiful girls, and that the girls in the other are all whores.

I know most of the girls I've met from that area are all dying to get out.

I'll take the skinny one in the grey dress with the blond electric hair.

Dying to get out of their shitty little city and move to Santiago, Santo Domingo, or if they're lucky, New York. La Vega is the 3rd largest city in the country and you'll be hard to find any type of active nightlife since almost everyone who lives there goes to Santiago for entertainment. Bonao is even smaller with even less to do.

Both are nice to visit for a day or two, but any more than that and it's time to get back to civilization.

    Cono-nut....lol.

I've been going to Bonao for the last few years. 2 decent clubs in town, Coconut Club and Aquarias (seen at 2.24 in the vid) both used to be real good fun. Mainly populated by an up-market $$$ crowd who look down their noses at gringos especially if you are with Dominicanas. Coconut Club has a ladies night on Wednesdays with 20peso cuba libres. Lots of other 'tipico' clubs around the city.

Never seen too many hot chicas around either.

In the last couple of years Bonao has become a hot-bed of civil unrest with muggings, hold-ups and armed car/moto-jackings commonplace. I am told gang rivalry along with barrio/town rivalry is intense. Saw 4 guys shot in Parque Central one Christmas Eve. Last February at one of the carnival concerts I saw a huge tear-up between 3-400 chopos, scenes I have not seen since English soccer violence in the late 70's. Last time I went my amigos were all packing and insisted that my jeepeta had an overnight armed guard.

I have no plans to visit Bonao ever again.

    Dec 2010 census figures:

    1 Santo Domingo 2,581,827
    2 Santiago 550,753
    3 Los Alcarrizos 245,269
    4 La Romana 224,882
5 San Pedro de Macorís 185,255
    6 Higüey 147,978
    7 San Cristóbal 138,455
8 San Francisco de Macorís 132,725
    9 Puerto Plata 118,282
    10 La Vega 104,536

Admittedly figures vary wildly according to which municipalities and districts are included, but by any common sense reckoning at least La Romana and SP de Macoris are much larger than La Vega.

A Canadian acquaintance went to live in Bonao a couple of years ago. He expected lower cost of living and cheaper and unspoilt pussy. Moved back to POP after a few months because of boredom and the fact that everyone knew everyone else's business.

I was about to post the exact same thing. This has been my experience in Bonao as well.

Agreed that it depends on how it's measured. Everyone in La Vega will tell you that it's #3 after the big two. Admittedly your numbers are newer, but this chart puts it at #4 after Santo Domingo, Santiago, and San Cristobal (which is basically Santo Domingo imo). http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anexo:C...poblaci%C3%B3n

LOL, they're certainly not humble folks in that city! I had a guy from La Vega tell me that his city was composed of the most physically attractive and most intelligent people in the entire country. This was said with a straight face. As anyone from La Vega can tell you, Juan Bosch is the smartest Dominican who ever lived simply due to his being from La Vega and Antonio Guzman was the only honest person to ever hold the Dominican Presidency. Obviously, the smartest living Dominican is Cardenal Lopez Rodriguez, who began his ministry in La Vega.
