The communications director of the State Electricity Companies (CDEEE), Ramon Garcia has announced that their debt is US$1 billion dollars with the power generating companies, but also RD$600 million with their suppliers.

He said that they would make a significant payment to the generators this week. Most is owned to EGE-Haina, AES Dominicana, Seaboard and the San Felipe Generator.

They owe least to Palamara-La Vega, San Pedro de Macoris Electricity Company (CESPM), Puerto Plata Electricity Company (CEPP), Laesa and Metaldom.

They did not disclose the names of the suppliers concerned.

On the other hand, the CDEEE said that yesterday, Monday 3 September, that 87% of the circuits were supplying electricity nationally and just 13% were off line for scheduled maintenance and service improvements.
