National Drug Control Department (DNCD) spokesman Roberto Lebron has announced that four people are under arrest, including employees of the Port in Caucedo, in connection with a consignment of 758 packets of cocaine and 10 of heroin found on a boat bound for the Netherlands.

He said that their names could not be disclosed until their association with the case could be established, but assured that investigators had now identified the whereabouts of the owners of the drugs who would shortly be arrested and handed over to the Public Prosecution Department.

Both Lebron and the DNCD chief, Major General Rolando Rosado Mateo said that the country could rest assured that everyone involved would face justice.

Lebron pointed out that the drugs came from South America, probably Colombia, and that it must be a very sizeable network to move that amount of drugs, which were now being kept in the secure DNCD vault for later incineration.
