One of the men accused of stabbing musician Jose Carlos Hernandez Hernandez to death last weekend is awaiting trial on the accusation of seriously wounding another young man in the neck with a knife in August 2011. Miguel Angel Bautista Mota (El Bola - the Ball) is said to have wounded Hector Jose Irrizary Padua in the neck with a razor during the early morning hours of 26 August 2011. The incident took place outside the Fuse Bar, located on Arzobispo Merino Street in the Colonial Zone. According to the victim, the incident occurred without "El Bola" saying a single word. Irrizary's lawyer, Jose Honoret Reinoso, told Diario Libre that his client had remained in the Abel Gonzalez Clinic for more than a month after a surgery "where his life was saved miraculously."

Bautista Mota was arrested on 16 November 2011, after a search of his house in which, according to the information contained in Resolution Number 670-2011-3136 of the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention that ordered his release on bail, a 26-inch machete, a box of 9mm ammunition, a barber's razor, a police baton, an ice pick without a handle, a set of brass knuckles, and a filed-down machete of the type known as "saca higados" (liver removers) were all found by the authorities.

Judge Alejandro Vargas ordered one year of preventive custody to three of the six accused of the murder of 23-year old Jose Carlos Hernandez. Miguel Angel Bautista Mota, Maximo Darvin Almanzar Guerra (Warrior) and Jesaias Benjamin Mota Lorenzo (Nino) were sent to La Victoria jail. The three are accused of inflicting the 27 stab wounds that caused the death of Hernandez.

The prosecutors say this was a "crime of hate, due to the prejudice in the conduct of the accused that shared same taste in music, but difference in social classes," as reported in Diario Libre. Cardinal Nicolas Lopez Rodriguez commented on the case: "It is shameful to see young people murdered in such a vulgar, sadistic and perverse way, without justification. Undoubtedly whoever hates is capable of anything."
