Drunko how long does it take you to arrive if you have that many connections. I usually get about 4k miles per round trip (I always fly 1st class) how many more can I get if I take connections. Please enlighten me I would grealty appreciate it.

You know AA doesn't to non-stop EWR-POP. You either have to go thru MIA or San Juan. Have you looked at Continental?

I was slow to find out about AA not flying non-stop anymore. What really annoyes me is I am accumulating a boat load of air miles on my AA card and now they don't fly direct to my favorite place. Did I mention I absolutely hate that drive from Santiago to Sosua...

And I wouldn't really mind the connection but that crap is 7 (YES SEVEN) hours. I am usually going in sane about 3 1/2. I have no idea how I am going to make it to Africa next year. The wife and I are tossing the idea of going to Africa for a few weeks next year.

I have gone through MIA twice. Once on my way to Aruba and the other time on my way to Curacao. I absolutely hate that airport. You sometimes have to take a train (!) to go from one part to the other. Yes, the layover times are insane. I will only touch that airport again to visit relatives in Miami.

moshy, it all depends on where the flights are from/to. I only did it one time going to the DR. I did a BOS-LAX-JFK-POP STI-JFK-SFO-BOS.

Something like this will price out just a bit higher than I would normaly pay. The catch for me, is to do it when there is a deal out of JFK. In order to be worth it, I need that "special" $260 fare. Or thereabouts.

I can`t get a deal for the thanksgiveing trip. I'm searching for some kind of long routing. Problem is, there are no deals out of POP or STI that I can get a connection with. I don`t mind makeing it a 24 hr trip to get there, but on the way home, I'd like to keep it under 12

    Drunko,

What is the average amount of FF miles you get for a trip like that (one you have taken to DR). And what is the average TOTAL flight time. If the miles are significant then I could possible do it going but need a short flight coming back.

I do appreciate you wealth of FF info...
