The president of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD), Major General Rolando Rosado Mateo traveled to Honduras yesterday, Thursday 20 September, accompanied by the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) country attache in the Dominican Republic, John Niedzialek for an exchange of experiences and to share the Dominican experience in fighting drug trafficking with their counterparts in Honduras. The trip seeks to strengthen cooperation ties with the drug agency and public prosecutor in Honduras. The contacts were made by Dominican ambassador in Honduras, Jose Osvaldo Leger.

The DNCD says that the meeting is taking place at a time when illicit air shipments have disappeared from Dominican skies, and the drug cartels have reportedly relocated to Honduras. The DNCD said that a cooperation and information exchange agreement would be signed.
