From Sosua (across from Metro /Texaco Station) to POP is 45 pesos in publico (taxi shared with 5 other people). At the publico station, or before ( tell the driver let you off across from Burger King) in POP, you can take a moto for 25 pesos anywhere to the malecon. At night add 5 pesos mas o menos

I have lived in Puerto Plata or Pto Pta (not POP - I don't live in an airport like Tom Hanks) for three years and I haven't a clue where Burger King is (but no doubt Stevie Wonder is a regular patron). For those nervous of motos, you can just stay with the publico to Parque Central (which now has a different posh name which none of the locals use) and the Malecon is 4 minutes walk away.

From where? Sosua? half an hour, or a leisurely 45 minutes.

My last trip in sept 2012 I paid 100 RD for Publico to a few blocks north of Mealecon. Looks like it can be a little cheaper than what I paid. I have to say it was my first experience in a Publico and it was quite a trip. The driver seemed to have a goal of getting there as fast as he could and that meant using all lanes and the shoulder to make it happen. Suffice it to say I smiled alot during that ride. Several oh shit moments.

Still much cheaper than a private taxi which i think would be $30us based on the taxi board in Sosua

Obviously you haven't driven either because the BURGER KING, is located in the Shell Gas Station, near the PP malecon.

Obviously you write more than you read, because if you read more than only only the replys to your post.....

Weyland doesn't drive! And he doesn't care what everyone else is doing. He moved to the DR, and adopted the culture. While he may prefer Haitiana women, he doesn't got looking for Dominos pizza, or Burger King.

You remind me of my ex father in law. The first two trips were family trips. On the second day, the rest of us got tired of being hungry, because he kept looking for U.S. restaraunts. After the second day, we all said..."you keep looking, we're gonna eat now." Then told him, next trip, your not coming. "You stay and vacation at home, and eat McD's, and whatever the hell else you wanna eat".

He shut the fuck up after that.

Near the PP Malecon?? I don't think so.

More correctly, it's located in the Shell Station on Ave. Circumvalacion Sur, across the street from the Jose Briceno Stadium. Anyone that goes to Sosua HAS to pass it as they're leaving Puerto Plata for Sosua.

It's over a kilometer away from the Malecon.

(I'm acting like I missed the point too!)

Chill dr1lvr, I only used BK as a reference point if the OP wanted to get out of the publico before entering the city coming from Sosua. From there he can get to the malecon via a moto if he chooses. My bad in using the symbols POP as Weyland pointed out for Puerto Plata (not the airport) in my previous post, which is something I now see that I do use on many other sites as well.

About a year ago I stopped at the Burger King in Puerto Plata and it did not taste like home exactly and was very expensive. I never went back. My advice is avoid that place and don't ask TNT72 for directions.

One of the most insulting things I have ever read. Let's say "adapted" rather than "adopted". And replace "culture" with "lack of culture".

If I ever show signs of "going native", put me out of my misery.
