Dominican singer-composer Juan Luis Guerra headed the Latin Grammy nominations with six, followed by Jesse & Joy who garnered five nominations in the announcement ceremony that took place at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles. Guerra is nominated for Best Song of the Year for either one of two songs: El cielo no hay hospital and Azul Sabina. The songs are also competing in the category of best lyrics.

The composer of "Ojala que llueva cafe" is also vying for the Best Album of the Year with "MTV Unplugged" which he produced for Colombian artist Juanes and is a candidate for Best Producer of the Year.

Guerra's blend of merengue, bolero, bachata and rock has already earned him 12 Latin Grammys.

The XIII Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and will be broadcast live on the Univision Network on Thursday, 15 November at 8 pm Eastern Time.
